dont even get me started on madi. she's all in on this war business because it'll give her people a home and free the slaves on nassau and its just so interesting how unexpected her every action is??? for me at least, i keep expecting her to go the emotions route like everyone else does and each time she's like here's what i'm actually going to do. and it's always something entirely reasonable for her to do in that situation. anyway i wrote like half an essay on this so here's a read more lmao
like with the crewmate that fought with one of her men, when silver gives her the knife, me :handshake: silver, she's absolutely killing that man. and instead she chooses to free her man and give him an excuse to keep the peace.
or with the urca gold situation, even though that's what the whole conflict has been about this entire time, she makes the decision based on the end goal of peace on the island that the best course of action is to give up the gold entirely
like it's so interesting to me that most if not all the characters on this show are pretty self serving, if that makes sense. like flint's doing all this because of thomas and miranda, but the pirates of nassau are a tool to work around rather than an actual motivation. or for billy, who becomes the driving force behind the long john silver legend, but who allows himself to get distracted constantly by the threat of flint even to the detriment of his cause. or eleanor, whose primary motivation seems to be protecting what she has at all costs and freeing herself from the constraints of being a woman in a man's world. or max, who wants the comfort and safety and respect that comes from the power that the white people around her have and is repeatedly denied that (even in places where eleanor had succeeded before her).
so it's really cool in comparison to that to see someone who (at least by s04e05) says she's doing this for her people and then follows thru on that at every opportunity
and that's not to say that she's like logical all the time or doesn't feel any emotions, i think her empathy is also a big part of her motivations. like it's one thing to be raised to protect something and another to fully believe in that purpose, y'know?? she was genuinely upset about her man getting attacked, she's genuinely upset about the slaves getting tortured, she's genuinely upset about hurting silver, so on and so forth
it's just that the thing that keeps surprising me i think is that her kindness is borne from her knowing that she needs to do what's right for her people as opposed to her doing what she can to further a cause. yes, let's remove england from nassau, let's free the slaves, let's give up this gold, but none of it is shortsighted. she's not looking to survive this moment or prove a point, like silver or eleanor or billy or whoever else. her end goal is to save as many of her people as possible and give them a safe home to live and thrive in

June Reads 2023
A Novel Disguise by Samantha Larson aka Local Spinster Has to Do Everything Around Here. This is the reading experience:
MC: is this a romance me: MAAM YOU BURIED YOUR BROTHER'S CORPSE IN THE BACK GARDEN THREE DAYS AGO MC: okay well I have to prepare this random girl's dead body for viewing, a job that is for some reason mine MC: * physically relocates the dead girl's jaw * MC: okay back to what I was saying about this being a romance! me: the fact that you are capable of contemplating romance in this murder mystery is amazing
Untethered Sky by Fonda Lee: if you watched How to Train Your Dragon and thought "okay but what if the dragons WERE incapable of loving you and would leave you for dead in a heartbeat and might try to eat you, wouldn't that be great" then good news! This is the book for you. I did enjoy this one, it's a very quick read (or listen, in my case). This is about giant birds (love it) and hunting monsters!
Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall: This was. Almost painfully tedious. If you're writing a story where both the romantic leads are women, then you NEED to conceptualize women as active characters who are allowed to be both funny and stupid or your sapphic romance will be so so extremely boring. If your female characters are all reactive rather than active, they will never be able to play off each other, because nobody in that relationship will actually provide the initial motion. And an object at rest will remain. At rest. Until we all die of boredom. Also the narrator choice was genuinely baffling, in all honesty. Like. I don't know why the author went "you know what this novel needed? Someone to constantly comment on how stupid all the events are, in case the reader hasn't noticed." Don't worry, Alexis Hall. I noticed. I noticed.
The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2021 edited by John Joseph Abrams & Veronica Roth: These were varying levels of enjoyable for me, but overall, it was a good collection! And This is How to Stay Alive by Shingai Njeri Kagunda made me cry from older sibling feels, among other things. Beyond the Dragon's Gate by Yoon Ha Lee was also a stand-out for me.
To Shape a Dragon's Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose: only YA novel on the list for this month, I think! I enjoyed this one a lot. Anequs is definitely a main character who pulls her own story along, and I'm looking forward to picking up the sequel when it comes out. I liked the organic integration of different ways of knowing very much! It does have some of the usual debut novel issues, but hopefully Blackgoose's writing will grow and those will get worked out at the series goes on.
The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty: this book rollicked along well! The notorious pirate captain Amina Al-Sirafi is retired, and for a good reason, but finds herself pulled back into the world of supernatural creatures, mythical treasures, and high seas misadventure when she is asked ("asked" in heavy quotations) to track down a noble family's missing daughter. This book takes place in the same extended universe as the Daevabad trilogy, but doesn't require having read it.
Bad Cree by Jessica Johns: when Mackenzie, a young Cree woman living in Vancouver, begins bringing things back from her nightmares, she finds herself drawn back home to the rest of her family, to try to figure things out, especially as the dreams get more dangerous. This is a horror story about monsters, but also a horror story about grief and colonialism. It's about a family of magical dreamers, but also about the ties of family and the strength of those ties, no matter how tattered, in the face of generations of horror. This one is an atmospheric story that I found somewhat disorienting as a read, and has a couple debut quirks, but overall was a good reading experience. It got spooky and I just went "the only way out is through" and finished it at 1 AM.
Spectred Isle by KJ Charles: I feel like Saul just goes "well this might as well happen" about basically everything in his life at this point, which definitely brought a certain energy to the story. This one isn't my favourite KJ Charles book (not that I've read all of them but still), despite the fact that usually fantasy is me preferred genre.
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant: This is a reread for me, and still the Seanan Mcguire/Mira Grant book that appeals most to me. Still really enjoy the merfolk in this! Deep-sea dwelling and very toothy. Jurassic Park vibes overall. The dolphin sideplot still feels misplaced with the rest of the story, doesn't really accomplish much of anything, which made it a frustrating digression in an otherwise tightly plotted novel.

Triping on the alarms
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Summary: Someone keeps breaking into your jewelry store and there's this beautiful red head cop. You want to make your move, but how? tripping on the alarms of your store of course, and now you're getting brought to the station by her.
A/n: It took a while to finish this one but her it is. I'm actually starting to write a college au series with Wanda but I'm so damn busy these days.
It was almost 6 pm, there were no costumers left at the jewelry store, so you decided to close it. You made sure everything was closed, but today you were rushing to get home to watch you favorite movie, and you then forgot to close a window.
It has always been your dream of owning your own shop since you were a kid, it kinda feels nice to be on your own and make your own decisions.
When you got home, you unlocked the door and loud barks welcomed you home. You kneeled and opened your arms and you're suddenly tackled by your furry friend, sure, it was kind of lonely to have no one around the house, except you, but that didn't mattered because you got your dog, Luna.
You went to your bedroom and changed your clothes, you then opened the tv and put on your favorite movie that you've probably watched a million times, Luna then climbed up the bed and rests her head on your lap, you stroked her fur causing her fall asleep. After you watched the movie, you turned off the tv and slept.
Luna woke you up by barking loudly and licking your face, you giggled but then decided to push her away gently, you then got ready to go to your shop.
When you got to your near your jewelry store, the first thing you saw was a woman in cop uniform standing outside, she seems to be talking to someone over the walkie-talkie, she suddenly then turned to you and stopped talking to whoever the one she's talking to before.
You walked near her and you can't help but feel attracted to this woman, her red hair, her green enchanting eyes and her smile.
God, I haven't met anyone this beautiful. You thought.
"Good morning maam, are you the owner of this store?" the woman said.
"Yes, that would be me, why?"
"Earlier this morning, the alarms on your store went off, someone broke-in the store and took all the money."
Oh my god, shit!
You suddenly ran inside the shop and found the drawer where you put all the money in, opened and the money inside were gone. You looked around and saw the opened window, you should've made sure everything was closed off last night and now the money that you needed to help pay for your daily needs were now gone.
The woman also came inside the store and looked at you, you met her eyes and you were instantly distracted by how beautiful those green eyes are, you almost forgot everything that just happened, until the officer spoke.
"Are you okay ma'am?"
"Y-yes I'm fine, I'm Y/n by the way,"
"Wanda Maximoff" she sent you another smile that made your knees weak.
"I'm sorry for what happened, but I'll make sure to catch whoever stole your money. Good thing no jewlry was taken though.
"Thank you officer, I should've clossed the window last night, really."
"Please, just call me Wanda"
"Well then, thanks again Wanda"
Wanda left the store leaving you smiling, she's very attractive for a police officer and you can't stop thinking about her for the rest of the day. The money was not really important to you, now that you met the Wanda.
Your phone rang suddenly breaking you from your trance. You looked over your phone and answered it.
"Bitch, why aren't you responding my texts?!"
"Good Morning to you too, Nat."
"Good Morning. Are you still alive?"
"Of course I'm perfectly fine, I forgot I put my phone on silent last night and I haven't been on my phone, plus, someone broke-in in my store today."
"What? How did they get in?"
"I accidentally left a window open last night because I was rushing to get home to watch a movie." You heard Natasha sigh on the phone.
"Do you know who broke in?"
"No but there was this beautiful officer named Wanda, standing in front of my bookstore earlier and she told me that she'll figure who it was."
"God, you're so gay"
"Oh don't act like you don't have the hots for Maria" I know she's blushing at the other side of the call. "Plus I can't help it, she's really hot"
"Goodluck on your hot officer then, and make sure to invite me to your wedding. I go to go though, unlike you, I'm not the boss of me at work, so goodbye, oh, and don't ever foget to answer my messages again or I'll litterally climb to your window at night and drag you somewhere where you wouldn't be find." At that, Nat hangs up the phone and you were laughing on your best friend's words.
You continued to wait until some costumers came in, you greeted them with a smile and yes, maybe you need to work extra to get the amount of money that were stolen from you, but that's alright because your one of the famous jewelry shops in the city so it wouldn't be that hard.
-----
After another long day at your bookstore you decided that it was time for you to go home, you checked your phone one last time and saw Nat's message.
Bitch who's in love with Maria changed your name to Bitch who's in love with Wanda
Bitch who's in love with Maria: Hey! just got home from work, cheking in to see if you're not dead.
You: I'm fine Nat, thanks for checking in on me, I'm gonna go home now too.
Bitch who's in love with Maria: Okay good. Make sure everything's 101% locked and secured and get home safely.
You: Yes Ma'am... Will definitely check everything.
You turned off your phone and closed off the store, this time, you also took the money that you made today just in case. After you locked the door, you got to your car and drove home.
At that night you dreamed about Wanda, and how her smile just makes your heart beat faster. Everything about her is perfect and you just hope you can see her again. Maybe you'll have the courage to ask her for coffee tommorow so you can thank her and also get to know her more.
You were woken up from your slumber because of Luna licking your face again, you went to the kitchen and ate breakfast with Luna who finished hers before you.
When you got to your jewelry shop, there she was again, Wanda, standing by the door, you noticed that door were already opened, so you rushed to her to know what happened.
"Wanda, hi" you were genuinely confused why was she here again and why the door was already opened.
"Oh hi Y/n, hate to say it to you but someone broke in again last night, they got in by breaking the lock on the door and the alarm went off again, the station told me to check on it and it seems like they tried to break the glass of the jewelries on display but it didn't work" she explained
"Oh my god, why did this keep happening" you were very frustrated on what happened today and yesterday, good thing you took the money you made yesterday or else they could've took that too.
"Good news is that there was cameras on the opposite building and I think we know who broke in yesterday and possibly today" you sighed in relief knowing that they'll be able to catch whoever that person was.
"Good thing I didn't left money this time"
"Yeah, good thing. But I wondered why they came back again"
"Probably to see if the window is open again"
"Yeah, must be"
There was a short moment of silence and you know this is your chance to strike up a conversation with her.
"How long have you been in the police department, Wanda?"
"4 years, me and my brother actually both became officers together, it was both our dream" you notice Wanda with sentiment in her eyes.
"Where's your brother now?"
"He passed away 2 years ago, Pietro was shot while he was evacuating hostages to safety" Wanda looked down at her fingers.
"I'm sorry that happened to him Wanda, and thank you for sharing that to me" you gently touched her hands and she looked up to meet your eyes again.
"It's alright, he was just the funniest and kindest brother you'll have. I remembered when we were kids, he would let me pick any show I'd want to watch, I always pick The Dick Van Dyke Show I absolutely loved it" Wanda chuckled at the memory of her brother.
"I actually like shows and movies too. Have you seen Friends?" she smiled at your question and nodded.
You both talked for a while, and you didn't seem to notice the time until your first costumer of the day walks in. You just talked about all the things you both love and you feel so much closer to her.
"It seems like I have to go now, I still have work to do and you have a store to run" she winked. "Hopefully I can see you next time, but not when someone breaks-in again." you chuckled and waved goodbye to her.
Another person entered the store but you were still thinking about the conversation you had with Wanda.
You smiled at yourself and you feel all the butterflies in your stomach going wild. You can't help but be all smiley.
"Oh my god your such in a gay mess right now" you were startled by a voice that was talking behind you and when you turned, you saw Natasha smirking.
"Jesus Nat! you scared the shit out of me" she just chuckled and leaned back to the shelf that was right behind her. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Whaat? can't I just go in here because I miss you?"
"Nope, I know you do not. Anyways what is it?"
"Well you know, Maria's birthday is coming up and I'm planning on buying her a beautiful jewelry, and you so happens to own a jewelry store" you smiled in amusement when she instantly blushed.
"And you say I'm the one who's in a gay mess." I teased "But since you're my best friend and that I want for you an Maria to date, I'm going to help you" Natasha's face lighten up, you absolutely know Nat's crush on Maria but at this point you really think she's in love with her.
You were looking around for the perfect jewelry for Maria and Nat decided on a necklace.
"Really? that?"
"What? what's wrong with it"
"No offense Nat, but giving necklaces are like the from shit romance movies, no originality to it."
"What do you want me to pick then? "
"Here." You gave her a pair of sliver earings with a small sapphire gem attached to it. "Take these, they'll match Maria's eyes"
"Thanks Y/n"
"No problemo"
You and Nat then went to the counter and she paid for the earings.
"Will there no be a 50% discount for me?" She fluttered her eyes trying to convince you
"No,"
"Yes."
"Okay fine, as long as you invite me to your wedding" You smirked at her blushing face quoting what she said the last time you called her.
"Don't worry I will, you'll be the flower girl." she winked and you both laughed. "speaking of weddings and partners... How's your hot officer?" Now it was your turn to blush.
"It's alright, we've just been talking before you went in"
"It's been literally 2 days and you haven't made a single move on her, what are you waiting for?"
"I don't know to be honest, I'm just so nervous around her"
"Well you better make you move because based on how your so soft around her, she's one rare woman" you were thinking on what she said and that Wanda is a woman anyone would want and you don't want to lose your chance with her by just doing nothing, besides, it's better to try and fail than to never tried at all, right?
"Yeah, you're right and maybe I can think of a way to ask her out"
"That's the spirit! now finish up your job and then we can focus on our love lives." And with that, Nat left the store. A costumer then went in front of you, and you continued your work.
To be honest the person that stole your money and tried to break the glass to steal some jewelries was forgotten, but the image of a certain cop filled your thoughts for the rest of the day. You have to deal with the dented glass later 'cause you can't help but smile at the image of her in your mind again, she's squeezing in her way to your heart but you're not complaining.
-----
It was now the day after someone tried to steal from the shop. After you left your house and went to the jewelry store, you saw Wanda again and you can't help but be excited on seeing her, the possibility of someone robbing your shop didn't cross your mind as you were smitten with the redhead.
"Any break-ins again today officer?" you teasingly asked
"Oh so you're gonna be happy if someone stole something from your store again?" she teased back
"I'd be sad about it but the officer that checks in on it, is great company." she smiled and her nose scrunched so adorably
"I hope you still enjoy my company even though there's no break-ins this time"
"So why are you here?" you asked her
"Woah! Want me to leave already? I thought you enjoyed spending time with me"
"Your such an idiot." You opened the door to the bookstore and let Wanda in.
"I'm very offended by your words Y/n" she holds her chest pretending to be offended. "Anyways, I have great news for you. We already found who broke in your store."
"Who is it?" Wanda grabbed her phone and opened it, she showed me a cctv footage from last night and the night before. It was a man probably not older than thirty climbing through the opened window with a hammer on his hand, after a few minutes he got out again in the same window he got in.
The man who's in the second video was the same man that climbed in the window. His face was much more distinguishable than the first video. He has a brown hair and he has a trimmed beard.
"His name is Scott Lang, we also saw him breaking in to another store last night, he's actually in the station, brought in for questioning," She explained. "He also told us that he'll just pay for the all the damages he did, he said he was just desperate for money because his daughter's birthday is coming up and he wants to buy her a toy"
You honestly feel sad for the man now, he just wants to buy something for his daughter on her birthday.
"It's alright, he didn't have to pay me back for the money he stole or the damage he made to the glass" You said
"Really?"
"Yeah, he seems like a good guy and he can keep the money." Wanda looked shocked but then she smiled.
"You're a really good person Y/n" You feel your cheeks warming when you met her eyes.
"Well then, I hope you have a nice day Y/n, I'll be off to work to tell Scott the news."
"Of course, thanks again Wands!" You didn't even the notice the nickname slip-up you said but you saw Wanda smile wider.
For the rest of the day, you continued working. As soon as you opened the door to your house, you saw your phone light up. It was Natasha
"Heey Natty, what's up?"
"You know I hate that nickname! " She said but to be honest, the tone of her voice is higher making you think she really doesn't hate it or she's just really really happy today. "Anyways, I have great news!" She's very energetic today you thought.
"Hmm, let me guess, you and Maria are dating now?" you smirked when you heard her gasp
"Oh come on! I was gonna tell it first!"
"It was obvious enough from the tone of your voice that it's about Maria, because you never shut up about her" you heard her grumble on the phone. "Now tell me, how did it go?"
"Well, she actually asked me first and we went to the park and got ice creams together" She sighed dreamily remembering their date together. You gagged jokingly at her.
"But seriously, I'm happy that you're together Nat"
"Thanks Y/n, you also deserve someone. By the way, how is she?"
"Who?"
"Don't act dumb, you know, the cop, that you're so obsessed with," She teased
"Oh, Wanda? She's fine I guess"
"You guess? what happened to asking her out?"
"It's still not the right time to ask" You sighed and shrugged
"When is the right time then? It's fate that she's always checking at your jewelry store whenever someone breaks-in, grab your chance while you still can"
"I know, I know," You then heard noices from the end of Natasha's line.
"Hey Y/n, I'm sorry to cut our conversation but I need to go, I need to work on a paper I need to send to my boss tonight, but we'll talk some other time."
"It's alright Nat, good luck!" You heard a faint good bye and you hang up the call.
You were in deep thought again tonight, you know you should make a move, but how? You can't just go to the police station and ask her out, that would be weird, and you can't even ask her through text because you don't have her number! You had another idea on how to see her again, and it's stupid enough to get you arrested, but you'll do it, especially if it means getting arrested by a hot officer.
You woke up quite early and you went straight to work after doing your morning routine and saying goodbye to Luna.
This is stupid, this is stupid. you keep repeating on those words. You carefully opened the door inside. It's a motion detector alarm so you need to be careful not to be seen yet. The alarm is directed to the police station, and will make a loud noise when triggered, hopefully Wanda would come and check on it and you can finally ask her out.
You then so casually walk over to the alarm and as expected it rang loudly, it would take a while for Wanda to get there so you sat down. You were kind of nervous on how will this go, what will you say to her? You accidentally tripped on the alarm? that would be a lame excuse and she'll ask why you didn't turn it off after.
Will you say the truth then? that you've purposely turned off the alarm just to see her? now you were just a hundred times more nervous than you were.
While you were in your head, Wanda arrived with another cop with her, she saw movements inside the store so she carefully peeked who tripped the alarm this time. She was so surprised that she saw you just sitting there and doing nothing, she signals her colleague that it's safe.
She entered the bookstore and called your name. "Y/n?" she was confused why you would just sit there, were there really someone who broke-in again?
"Wanda?" God this is so akward now. You saw a man came inside with the same uniform wanda is wearing.
"What are you doing here?"
"I- umm... I thought maybe I could see you?" your cheeks are surely turning red now, you're so embarrassed by the situation you put yourself in.
"What?" she laughed, still confused. "Are you harmed or did someone tried to steal something again?"
"N-no, I just purposely turned off the alarm-" Wanda interrupted your sentence before you can finish.
"You purposely did it?" You were about to respond back but you hear sirens outside. Wanda turned to her back and saw 2 more police officers walking towards you.
Wanda talked to the officer and sighed. She walked back to you and chuckled "They said I have to get you to the police station because you set off the alarm and that you kind of disturbed the neighboring stores and I honestly thought it was a real threat."
She lead you to the police vehicle and you were panicking, why did you ever think it was a good idea to do that?
Wanda let you sit on a chair opposite to her with a table separating the both of you. Noticing your obvious panicked state, Wanda reassured you.
"Don't worry, they're not going to put you in jail" she smiled sweetly at you
"I have no idea why I just did that" you groaned dropping your face in your hands.
"Why did you really do it then?" she was smiling, amused by what just happened causing you to be embarrassed even more.
"I was trying to find a way to ask you out, cause I like you, but I don't have your number and I can't just walk in the police station and ask you out" you explained and she chuckled, you also smiled at yourself too.
"That's a very creative way to ask me out"
"I wouldn't say creative, stupid I'd say."
"It's not stupid, if you ask me out now, maybe it's all worth it?"
"Really?"
"Yeah" she nodded
"So Wanda, I know this isn't really the best place to ask someone out," you both chuckled and you continued "but I want to ask you, if you'd want to go on a date with me?"
"Yes, absolutely." Your moment was broken when a familiar voice interrupted.
"Oh my god! What the fuck happened Y/n?!"
"Nat, how did you know I was here?"
"I was calling you for the tenth time and your not picking up, so I went to your store and found police officers outside and I asked where you were and they said your in the station!" she was in distress and you were trying to calm her down "Are you going to jail? what did you do?!"
"I'm not going to jail Nat, I was just dumb enough to set off the alarm and hope to ask Wanda out this time. I just didn't expect this" gesturing to the room with your hands. Natasha scoffed and slapped her forehead with her palm.
"Why on earth would you do that?!!" she was yelling now and it kind of scared you, you know you shouldn't have done it knowing your best friend would find out and worry to her death about you, but you did it anyways.
"I-I don't know!"
Nat turned to Wanda and asked her, "Are you Wanda? the woman Y/n's so crazy about thay she almost got arrested to?"
"Yup, I'm Wanda, the woman Y/n's crazy for." Wanda grinned and you were beyond embarrassed because of Natasha.
"Listen, I'm sorry Wanda that you had to witness the idiocy of my best friend just because she's trying to ask her out but she's a good mess."
"I'm a police officer and I'll just have to deal with her because I just said yes to her asking me out."

Line without a hook
Loki is always there to comfort you. One day you return the favour.
Fluff, hurt/ comfort
It was a cold night at the Stark Tower you were in your favourite jumper in front of the TV trying not to worry
The mayority of the Avengers were out fighting the latest threat of destruction to the Earth this week.
You had been asked to stay back to rest your leg after a particular tough battle the week before that had really damaged your knee.
You felt guilty that you weren’t there helping your fellow team mates.
Loki had offered to look after you, you weren’t quite sure why as you hadn’t spent much time together. You trusted Him though. You knew Him joining the Avengers had been a little rough on Him, not everyone had warmed up to Him after What he had done to New York. You weren’t an Avenger at that time so you didn’t have to fight Him.
I you weren’t exactly friends but you were always hesitant to talk to Him. You never quite knew What to say and you never talked unless you had something meaningful to add to the conversation
You were watching an episode of our planet about forests
When Loki walked in and started boiling water
Ahhh his usual cup of tea
You smiled to yourself. Being apart of the Avengers you started to notice People’s usual habits and behaviours. You found other people facinating and you had such fun watching Them.
Loki put a cup of tea Down in front of you and you looked up at him with a questioning look on your face
‘Thank you’
He nodded at you and sat Down a few seats away from you and started to read his book.
You noticed he didn’t have any cup infront of him
‘Where’s your usual cup of tea?’
Loki smirked
‘I’m not the one who is anxious’
‘I’m not’
He looked up from his book and raised his eyebrows
‘The tea will soothe your soul’
‘I’m fine’ you insisted stubbornly crossing your arms at your chest almost like a child
‘ clearly’ Loki added dryly going back to Reading his book
‘Fine i’ll bite.. What Makes you Think I’m anxious?’ You Said and gave Him a look
‘The jumper, the Nature documentary and the look of panic that graces your features’
You sighed
‘Am i really that transparent?’
‘Yes’
‘Fantastic’ it was your turn to dryly say
‘So Can i ask why you are anxious?’ Loki asked almost carefully
You looked at him for a minute almost debating with yourself if you should tell him or not but shrugged your shoulders and gave in.
‘I’ve never missed a mission, I’ve always been in front of the action. What if it’s actually better without me there. What if I’m -‘
Not Cut out to be here? Not good enough?Useless
You thought sadly.
Loki gave you an a look of disblief
‘ you Can’t possibly Think you Don’t belong’
You shrugged
‘Sometimes I wonder if I’m cut out for it. If I had moved out the way or been faster or stronger maybe I wouldn’t have gotten hurt’
‘You’re human. It happens’ Loki said trying to reassure you
‘Wouldn’t have happened to you’ you said back Defensively
‘That’s different I’m a god. You are a midgardian’
‘Sadly yeah. I don’t like how weak it makes me feel’
‘ you might be many things y/n but weak is not one of them’
Your cheeks flushed
‘What do you mean?’ You questioned
‘You are an excellent fighter, you always give it your very best and I think that’s quite admirable and definitely worthy of being part of a team ’
You shivered partly due to being cold partly because this was probably the most you had talked to the god in all the time you had been apart of the team.
With a flick of his finger your shoulders were covered in dark green blanket.
You smiled a wide smile for the first in a while.
And reached out to put your hand on his shoulder
‘Thank you’
Loki looked at your hand for a moment before looking into your eyes with an unreadable look on his face.
Before going back to reading his book and you went back to watching your documentary.
Both of you just sitting in silence and you reached over and Grabbed the cup of tea and took a sip
Mint. Your favourite flavour.
you didn’t think much of it and kept watching your documentary while you enjoyed Loki’s company.
One day you found him in the library looking for another book to read. you were in a better mood than the day he had joined you on the couch but you didn’t feel amazing either.
You gave him a nod before going over to the book shelves to browse.
You spotted your favourite book of all time and took it and sat down on the ground next to where Loki was standing and staring to read
‘To what do I owe the pleasure of your company’ Loki commented before going back to look for a book
you shrugged
‘If you don’t want company I can leave’ you suggested but he shook his head.
‘Are you anxious?’
You nodded your head
‘ what’s wrong he asked before sitting down next to you
‘Nightmare’ you added
‘How bad? Slight trauma or watching your family die in front of you?’
‘Burning alive kind of bad’ you shuddered
Shaking slightly
Loki flicked his fingers and a green blanket
Was around both of your shoulders.
Before he could ask if you wanted to talk about it you had already started to rant
‘ it felt so real. The flames. The burning sensation. I woke up gasping for air’
Loki hesitated before lightly touching your hand with his and he squeezed your hand in a reassuring way
‘It’s not real. You’re safe’
‘ I know’ you admitted before knocking your shoulder against his and going back to reading your book. He stayed by your side as you read.
Loki could somehow always sense when you had a bad day.. he was always ready with a book, a cup of mint tea or a blanket You had no idea how or why he cared but it was actually really sweet of him and it made you want to talk to him more.
This time you stumbled upon him having a rough day.
He hadn’t left his headquarters in days and you had become worried. So you had made him a cup of tea and had knocked on his door.
‘Loki?’ You asked
He opened the door and let you come in
He was sitting on his bed reading.
You sat down next to him and handed him the tea
‘Everything okay?’
‘Yeah I’m grand’
You gave him a look that suggested you knew he was lying
‘You might be the god of mischief but you are a terrible liar’
‘Me? A terrible liar’ he said pretending to be offended
‘Do you want to talk about it?’
‘It’s stupid’ he reassured you
‘I doubt it’
‘Sometimes I wish I was as likeable as my brother’
You looked at Him for a moment trying to decide if it was okay to make a joke
‘The god of Mischeif jealous ?’ You joked
Loki sighed
‘I know. Stupid’
‘No! I’m sorry ‘ you Said and leaned your body next to his and he leaned into the touch.
‘Can i ask why you feel that Way?’
‘All my life people have always favoured Him over me, our parents, our friends, even the Avengers not that i blame Them though’
‘I understand How you feel. Sometimes it’s so easy for people to be so easily Well liked but harder for you’
‘Because they don’t let the burdens of the world bother them’
‘I think it’s because they push it away rather than deal with it you know? But it’s far better to deal with it than to bury it. As for the avengers- give them time and they will see how great you are’
‘You really think so?’
You nodded
‘Also not all the Avengers favour Thor over you. I happen to think he is slightly overrated. I mean he can’t magically get me a blanket when I’m cold’ you added looking into Loki’s eyes and he stared back at you with the softest smile but didn’t say anythinng
You got up from his bed and held out your hand
‘Where are we going?’ He asked as he took his hand in yours and dragged you to the kitchen where you made him sit down.
‘What are you doi-‘
‘ I’m going to make you cookies’ you added and shot him a look as to say there would be no arguing with you.
Loki sat down on the counter And watched you put all the ingredients in a bowl
‘Can i atleast help’
‘Nope just stay where you are’
‘Yes maam’ Loki Said in fake salut and you rolled your eyes but smiled.
You rambled on about your life before the Avengers. About your favourite things in the world.
When you were done you put the cookies in the oven and sat on the counter next to Loki
you were deep into a conversation when Thor came into the room
‘ WHAT IS THAT GLORIOUS SMELL’ Thor Exclaimed
‘Cookies’
You laughed and Loki rolled his eyes but tensed up a bit. You hand touched Loki’s gently giving a reassuring squeeze and Loki relaxed
‘Ah lady y/n and brother! How are yo-‘ he didn’t finish his sentence as he spotted your hands on top of Loki’s
‘Actually i just remembered i need to go ask the Captain about something’ Thor Said with a wide grin as he left the room
‘What was that about?’ You asked confused
‘Heaven knows ‘ Loki shrugged
You let out a laugh.
‘Perhaps you could crush me with your thighs’ your date said giving you a suggestive look
You regretted going on this date. Put yourself out there they Said. It Will be fun they Said.
it was definetly the last time you would listen to anyone ever again. Even Loki had encouraged you to go for it.
If you were honest you would rather be here with him instead but you didn’t know if he liked you. You had grown close lately and you saw him as a good friend if not maybe something more. You just didn’t know if he felt the same.
Your date kept making more more sexual innuendos even though you had made him aware you were uncomfortable.
You had had enough.
‘This was a mistake’ you said as you got up
Your date grabbed your hand
‘Let me go or you’ll regret it’
‘Oh come on! Things were just about to get good’
You turned around and punched him in the nose with your free hand
‘Fucking bitch’
‘ if you ever come near me again I’ll show you what a real bitch does’
And with that comment you turned back around and walked back to the headquarters in a fowl mood
Loki was on the couch reading like usual, Thor was watching some action movie with Natasha and Bruce.
‘Y/N’ Thor greeted loudly as you walked past them all in pure anger
Loki noticed this and approached the kitchen slowly he had never seen you this angry before
You Leaned against the counter trying to catch your breath while holding a drink of water
‘Y/n?’ Loki asked
You looked at him
‘I’m never going on another date ever again’
‘What happened’
‘ lewd sexual comments thrown my way and the fact that I was grabbed and held back as I decided to leave makes me never want to date another person ever again’
‘Are you hurt?’ Loki asked concerned and he was looking for bruises on your body
You looked at him with an unreadable expression and the anger from before vanished
‘I’m okay’ you reaffirmed
‘How did you get away from him?’
‘I punched him in the face’ you shrugged as if it was no big deal
‘That’s amazing. Well done’
You smiled at Loki
‘I will never date again’ you swore
‘You will find someone. You just haven’t found your person yet. Give it time it will happen ‘
‘What when I least expect it?’ You said and took a sip from your glass of water
‘PERHAPS YOU SHOULD DATE A GOD INSTEAD’ Thor exclaimed over from the couch
Loki gave him a dirty look from his place over at the counter like he was throwing daggers at him with his eyes.
You spat out your drink.
‘Ignore my foolish brother’ Loki commented and you nodded your head in agreement.
‘How about we all go out for a drink tomorrow night instead?’ Natasha asked
‘Sounds good’ you agreed.
The next day you were getting ready to go out so you got dressed in a dark green satin v neck dress that reached your ankles, it had a slit in the right side. You were wearing a long silver chain with a moonstone pendant and moonstone earrings.
You had dark lipstick on, mascara and winged eyeliner. Half of Your hair was in a messy ponytail in a half up half down kind of hairstyle.
You walked into the living room area where the others were staring at you In shock but you only noticed Loki.
You were absolutely gobsmacked, you had never seen anyone or anything so beautiful in your life. He was wearing fitted black trousers and a fitted black shirt with his hair tucked behind his ears.
You were breathless and absolutely taken back because wow just wow and he was staring back at you with the same look in his eyes as you
You needed drinks tonight and many of them to distract you from doing something stupid.
Loki walked over towards you and stopped in front of you
‘You clean up nice’ he commented before giving you the brightest smile
Fuck my life
‘I could say the same about you ‘ you said nervously before your cheeks turned a dark shade of red.
‘Come on Lovebirds! Let’s go’ Tony called over his shoulder causing you both to jump a bit as you had forgotten the other Avengers were there.
Without much thought you took Loki’s hand in yours and walked out with the others, Loki hadn’t pulled his hand away but was looking at your hand in his.
Tony, Steve, Wanda and Vision had joined the rest of you for a drink at one of the local bars. Everyone was having fun and talking about anything and everything. You were finishing your second drink before deciding you needed a third.
‘I’ll get the next round you yelled before getting up.
You saw Loki being in the middle of a conversation with Thor, Bruce and Natasha, you smiled in his direction. You were happy for him. It seemed like people were finally warning up to him.
You went to the bar when you spotted your date from the other night but before he noticed you you rushed back towards the table.
‘He’s fucking here’ you breathed out
Loki looked over at you worriedly and walked over to you and Gently held your hands in his.
‘Who’s here?’ He asked calmly
‘ the jerk from my date yesterday’ you shook a bit as you spoke
‘Do you want me to take you home?’ Loki offered
You shook your head
Do you want to get revenge?’
‘No that’s childish and stupid and ‘
‘But do you want to?’ Loki asked you with a mischeivious grin gracing his features
You thought about it for a second.
‘What’s your plan?’ You asked with an expression that matched his.
Loki lead you out unto the dancefloor and you started to Dance next to each other
‘Loki How is this Revenge exactly ?’
‘Show Him that you can do whatever you want with your body. Trust me it will get under his skin. Follow my lead okay? If you are uncomfortable at any point let me know?’
You nodded
You danced for a while. A slower song came on, Loki looked at you slightly nervous.
‘One more thing? Do you trust me?’
‘Yes. With my life’
Loki looked at you somewhat differently at that moment than before but you weren’t sure what it meant.
He put his hand on your hip and his other hand in yours while your other hand was resting on his shoulders and your head was on his chest as you slowdanced on the Dancefloor.
‘Is that the guy from Yesterday?’ Loki asked
You looked in the direction Loki was looking at a guy watching Them intently
‘Yep that’s the creep’
‘Y/n?’
‘Yes?’
Loki looked Down at your lips then back up at you as if he was asking for permission
‘Yes’ you Said in a raspy voice
Loki leaned down and kissed your lips and you kissed him back with full force to the point where you were just passionately making out.
As the Slower song ended you pulled your face away from his face.
‘Is he gone?’ You asked looking in the direction of where the guy had been sitting before
‘Yes’
You pulled Loki into a hug resting your head on his shoulder
‘Thank you. So much’
‘Anytime y/n’ Loki said hugging you back fiercely
After you broke apart from the hug you went back to the others.
Loki and you held hands the rest of the evening.
The next day you woke up in the best mood. But that all changed as soon as you saw Loki.
He was reading on the couch like usual so you went over to the couch and sat down next to him.
‘Hi’ you greeted warmly
Loki didn’t look up from his book but just gave you a nod
‘Everything okay?’
Loki nodded once again and you felt your heart sinking.
Did last night mean nothing
You tried to engage in conversation with Loki a few more times but he wasn’t interested
You sighed and said
‘Didn’t realise I was that unwanted. I thought we were friends. I guess i was wrong’
You left the room before your eyes Got glossy
You avoided everyone for the rest of the day. You hid in your room.
The one person you had ever cared this much about was icing you out.
Yesterday didn’t mean anything to him and you would have to get over this stupid crush.
You were curled up in a ball in your room crying your eyes out.
Had all the times you had bonded lately not meant anything to him? Had all their moments and shared looks been for nothing.
You weren’t even sure what you were to Him now? An acquaintance?
Surely you were more than that though, you had come to Him for comfort and he had opened up to you at least a small bit?
Or were you wrong about that too?
How were you supposed to act around him now?
As the evening approached you went up to the top of the roof and sat down with a blanket wrapped you and you looked up and gazed at the stars.
You don’t know How Long you were up here for until you noticed Loki sit down next to you
You felt bad. You tensed up a bit and Got ready to go back into the headquarters.
‘Y/n please stay’ Loki pleaded almost desperately
You sat down next to Him and looked at Him expectantly
He looked Down at his hands and seemed to be shaking a bit.
Was he nervous?
You gently put your blanket around his shoulders and he looked up at you
You gave him a small smile. You knew that he didn’t get cold with being a frost giant and all but you figured it would at least be comforting and maybe it would give Him the strength to say whatever he needed to get out. He looked at you a bit more confidently now
‘ i shouldn’t have kissed you’
‘I kissed you back’ you reminded him
‘I’m sorry y/n i took things too far and i dont want to ruin our friendship ‘
You swallow a lump in your throat
‘Do you regret kissing me?’ You asked your eyes searching his
‘No! I wanted to kiss you all evening”
“Really?” You asked as your cheeks coloured
“Yes. You looked so beautiful yesterday that i couldn’t take my eyes of you”
“I felt the same way too. You took my breath away yesterday”
Loki gave you a playful grin, his eyes looking looking down at your lips and back up to your eyes
You leaned in and captured his lips with yours, kissing him with as much passion as you could muster and he kissed you back just as fiercely.
After a while you broke apart and smiled at him, your eyes gleaming.
‘If I’m being honest i agree with Thor. Perhaps i should date a god next’
‘ do you have anyone In mind?’ Loki asked and pretended to think but he had a genuine smile on his face
Your heart beated very fast in your chest
‘ a certain god of Mischeif if he is interested’
‘That Can be arranged’
‘Really?’
‘Absolutely’
You leaned over towards Him and met Him halfway until your lips touched in another kiss.
Afterwards you leaned your head on his shoulder
‘The stars are so beautiful tonight’
‘Their beauty is out of this world’ Loki agreed but he wasn’t looking at the stars. He was looking at you
The two of you managed to Fall asleep against each other
Thor, Natasha and Bruce found you two in the morning cuddled into each other
‘YES! I TOLD YOU THEY WERE INTO EACH OTHER’ Thor exclaimed
‘Oh piss off’ you mumbled tiredly and snuggled closer to Loki’s chest being slightly annoyed that he had woken you up
Thor, Natasha and Bruce laughed
Loki kissed your forehead and wrapped his arms closer around you. He was smiling and ignoring his brother.

A/N: I was desperately craving some hurt/comfort in my life. Also I see Loki as more soft after he joins the Avengers, hard to get to know? sure- but softer none the less especially if he starts to care for someone. As the quote in Frozen goes ‘some people are worth melting for’
Also enjoy line without a hook because Ricky Montgomery is👌🏻

Manager!Seijoh Part 3
a/n: yall i love seijoh so much like theyre my favorite school and my favorite boys and i know their names by heart and im just so SOFT for them !!!!!
also: yall will find out what other fandom ill be writing for in the future in this one
for more seijoh content, check this masterlist out!
combined two anon requests:
- Could we get the boys reacting to finding out the seijoh manager is quite popular to both genders?? Maybe they over hear a confession?
- Why do I feel like half of the team would be all pouty when word comes around that a guy confessed to manager, the others would probably be annoyed/irritated. Oikawa being all bratty cause no matter what he tried, she never showed ant interest when he flirts. But now this boy comes alone ... (but like you said manager is too focused in school and the team)
MY HEART WAS RIPPED OUT OF MY CHEST AND THROWN INTO A BLENDER WHEN I SAW THIS PART OR JUST WHEN SEIJOH LOST IN GENERAL BC MY BABIES WORKED SO HARD AAAAAAA
oof girl the world is ending
so basically,,,,,
the entire just magically knew about what happened earlier and yahaba’s theory of team telepathy really does work bc not even a minute after it happened, they all spammed you messages and next thing you knew, oikawa was naruto-ing down from the 3rd floor to your class in the first floor
tbh, they shouldve seen this coming yanno?
you were ridiculously pretty and you carried yourself w such elegance and grace that it just seemed to hypnotize everyone into stopping what they were doing and watched you in awe doing the most mundane things like walking or sitting
lmao couldnt be me
your confessions usually happened over letters bc either tol boys kunimi or kindaichi are usually around you at all times so theyre too scared to do anything
hence why your locker was always filled with envelopes yet no upfront public confessions
it ranged from upperclassmen and upperclasswomen who expressed their interest in you and wanted to date you and get to know you better
but tf you dont even know them and you werent about to date a whole stranger
this made the boys a little peeved because you were popular with both the boys and the gals so they were constantly on edge on who was talking to you
it was like having an oikawa 2.0 but not indulging them and pretending theyre not even there
like when you walk to class and sit down, they would flock over and offer you drinks and snacks but you either turned them down or just flat-out ignored them
maybe this was what fueled others on more
your reserved attitude and your refusals made it look like you were playing hard to get and it was almost like a game on who could win the heart of the princess of seijoh
this was proven really difficult because not only do they have your dismissals, you also had guard dogs at every corner and would bite their head off at the slight indication of an interaction
however,,,,
today,,,
this morning,,,,
at 7:53 AM,,,,
they saw you walking down the hallway with a purple-haired boy holding your bag and you giggling at what he was saying
um EXCUSE ME MAAM WHAT
EVERYONE HAS BEEN TRYING TO GAIN YOUR AFFECTIONS FOR MONTHS YET YOU ARE HERE INTERACTING WITH A MALE WHO NO ONE EVEN KNOWS
ESPECIALLY SINCE HE WAS A MALE WHO WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE RIGHT NEXT TO YOU AND HE WASNT A MEMBER OF THE TEAM
!!!!!
and ofc, the boys would immediately know even though theyre spread all over the school
it was kyoken who saw you as he was leaning against your locker and his eyes narrowed before he secretly took a picture and sent it to yahaba, asking if there was a new guy who entered the team while he was away
when he replied with a panicked, ‘NO WHO IS THAT’
kyoken was already advancing to you
yahaba-san immediately sent the picture to the team group chat, that excluded you rood, and oikawa wasted no time and even pushed some fangirls so he could go to you
‘-and she destroyed my sheets’
you laughed at the story and hitoshi stared at you with awe in his eyes
how can someone laugh so beautifully?
like a snort should be considered ugly and gross but it was like cute little squeaks from you and he thought you were like a fairy
‘oh god, i wasnt-’
you were cut off with a hand that held your arm
you came face to face with the glaring face of one of your boys and you immediately turned to him in concern, immediately grasping an arm with the other hand on his cheek to look for any cuts
he rarely comes to you on a normal basis so you thought something was wrong
‘whats wrong, kyo-san? did you get into a fight? do you need me to patch you up?’
he didnt care what you were saying, instead heatedly glaring at this new guy, and grunted a response to agreeing with you going to the nurse
just anywhere to get you away from this,,,, stranger
‘toshi i have to-’
then you were cut off again
‘YYYYY/NNNNNNN-CHHHHHAAAANNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
‘OI SHITTYKAWA!’
‘OIKAWA-SAN!’
‘OIKAWA!’
‘CAPTAIN!’
from behind you, 5 tol looming figures were running towards you and next thing you knew, you were in the arms of your captain
‘oikawa-san! what are you doing?!’
oikawa held you tightly against his chest and had his arms tightly around your form to prevent you from being taken away
most of the volleyball team were now circling you and pointedly glaring at the poor boy who was so confused that he wasnt bothered by the death glares
‘oh, its you’
kunimi grumbled
‘kunimi, whats happening?’
hitoshi questioned
you fought away from the hold of oikawa and pushed mattsukawa and hanamaki to stand in front of shinsou hitoshi
‘so sorry about this, toshi. i’ll help you with your room later and ill text you when practice is finished, okay?’
you sheepishly smiled and he nodded, his own smile reassuring you
‘yep. ill see you later then’
‘bye’
you softly said and he turned to walk away
but as soon as he was out of sight, you turned around with a grim looking expression and your hands on your hips, a hard look in your eyes
‘boys, what was that?’
you gritted out
‘y/n-chan! don’t you see?! he was going to take you away! he was an intrude-OW!’
he yelped when you reached up and grabbed his ear before grabbing the other closest who was iwaizumi
they both whined and complained about the ear and slapped your hand but you didnt let up
‘he is a friend, oikawa-san. you have no right on who i can be friends and who i can hang out with because i still have a life outside the team!’
you scolded and the others hung their heads low like puppies
‘sorry, y/n-chan’
oikawa mumbled and iwaizumi also mumbled his apology so you let go of them, dusting off your hands
‘and the rest of you, hold back your captain and dont intimidate him like that!’
‘sorry’
you sighed but ruffled their hair before turning to go to class
‘now, be good boys and dont bother others like this again’
‘yes’
they chorused and you nodded, satisfied
‘ill hold you to it!’
you shouted as you walked down the hallway
when you turned a corner, oikawa grabbed kunimi by the arms
‘you know him, dont you? who is he? what class? address? mother’s name? father’s name? age-’
‘oi stop it, shittykawa’
but despite that, iwaizumi looked at the younger, expecting answers as well
kunimi sighed
‘thats shinsou hitoshi from class 1-3. we have gym together’
and ‘we’ was kunimi and you since you were both in the same class so you constantly saw this shinsou boy?
nuh uh, dont think so, francisco
from the looks of it, you were still single and there was a pining from shinso’s part, maybe yours they dont know
and they were going to do everything in their power to keep you away from him
this was excused to them as protecting their manager from someone else and they werent going to let you be taken by someone else
during practice, they grilled you over your relationship with him
‘i honestly dont know why this is your business but if you must know, his adoptive father, aizawa-san, is my mother’s co-worker and i usually catsit for them. dont worry, we’re not dating. just friends, that’s all’
but they know it wasnt just a friendship type of situation
so when the 4 third years saw you being confessed to by this ‘friend’ outside, they almost toppled out the window as they tried to listen to what was being said
‘shittykawa get off my back!’
‘nuh uh! i want to see clearly!’
‘everyone needs to know that code red is happening!’
yall what
mattsun took a picture and sent it to the gc about their princess being confessed to
no one replied, possibly too upset or too busy sulking
kyoken actually had to be excused outside bc he was glaring at everyone and everything and the teacher and students were so scared that they had to take him out of class
they were even more peeved when you just walked in like nothing happened
you didnt mention the confession to anyone else the whole day and when you entered the gym, it was very tense
the coaches even looked confused
‘did you guys fight?’
you questioned but no one answered
kunimi and kindaichi were playing with a ball and glaring at it as it hit the floor
the 2nd years yes including kyobabie were pouting to the side
the 3rd years looked annoyed and pissed off
overall just not seijoh babie vibes
i am uncomfortable with the energy we have created in the gym today🧚✨
‘hey’
you gently said and walked to the captain to figure out what was going on
‘oikawa-san, what happened?’
‘are you dating him now, y/n?’
the seriousness in his voice shocked you and you took a step back in surprise
your expression made him think that you did accept the confession and he scoffed before walking away and doing a jump serve that sounded like a canon blasting
but you were actually confused and surprised that they even knew bc you were sure it was a secluded area where no one could see you
‘dating,,,? dating who?’
you asked to them and the 3rd years just knitted their eyebrows
‘dont play coy, y/n-chan’
oikawa hissed
‘no matter how many times i flirted or asked you on dates, you never said yes. never agreed or even showed a little bit of interest. on me!! your captain!!! but now!!! this little grape boy comes along and you suddenly start dating just because he has cats! what kinda bias is this?!’
he started ranting and whining and being a brat that you pinched his nose shut
‘oi, oikawa-san, are you jumping to conclusions again? first the hickey accident and now this?’
he made a whining noise for you to let go and rubbed his nose when you finally let go
you turned around to face the others and you sighed, massaging your temples
‘everyone, who spread this misunderstanding?’
no one pointed to anyone but their gazes settled on the thick eyebrow boy that you were sure wouldnt have ratted you out
a noise of surprise and betrayal escaped from you as mattsun quickly scrambled to get everyone to stop staring at him
‘MATTSUN-SAN! YOU-!’
you pointed at him and mattsun rushed forward to grab your hands before holding them close to his chest
‘y/n-chan, we just saw you when we were passing! it was makki who wanted to tell the others!’
the betrayal made iwa laugh but makki ran up to kick mattsun to the side
‘youre the one who committed the deed! i was merely suggesting it! it was iwaizumi who wanted to watch them first!’
‘IWA-SAN!’
you gasped at the normally chill third year and you didnt expect him to be the one who started it first
iwa panicked and held his hands out cautiously
‘y/n-chan, understand that i was just worried and i didnt want you to be outside by yourself after what happened, okay? i didnt know he was confessing to you’
you closed your eyes and pinched the bridge of your nose tightly
‘again! whoever and whatever happens in my love life is my business! mine! and only mine! you cannot control it and get angry at ME because i do want a boyfriend and i do want to experience dating bc i want to know how it feels to be loved like that! so i wont let a bunch of children stop me from having that!’
the third years shared a look before they they gave up and nodded in defeat
but oikawa was the most offended
‘Y/N-CHAN! I ASK YOU ON DATES ALL THE TIME AND I ALWAYS OFFER TO GIVE YOU THAT LOVE SO WHY CAN’T IT BE ME?! WHAT DOES THAT GRAPE HUMANOID HAVE THAT I DONT?!’
he whined and stomped his foot after crossing his arms and a pout on his face
you shook your head, not even bothering to answer that, and went to the others
‘dont be mad and be upset, okay? i refused him bc i have no time for a relationship when im too busy looking after my own boys. i really dont want to add another’
kindaichi and yahaba’s face scrunched as they rushed forward to hug you
‘we thought you would leave us y/n-chan!’
‘stay as ours forever, okay?’
you were so relieved that they werent as aggressive as the oldests and gave each player their own favorite hugs
but you stopped in front of kyo, not really knowing how to hug him since youve never exactly showed any type of affection like that
so you were just awkwardly standing there with raised arms but he patted your head, you smiling and leaning more to his touch
‘hm, kyo-san, ya finally warming up to me?’
you teased but he scoffed, gently headbutting you with his forehead against yours
‘now, everyone! dont misunderstand and know that for as long as i will be a manager, i wont be in a relationship bc my time as a manager is too crucial since i would probably have to look after you so you dont get yourself to jail. a boyfriend is adding more boys in to that list and i dont want that. you will be my boys forever and i wont be taken from you so please trust on me and stop being so overprotective bc i wont give them the affection or wishes they want!’
oikawa teared up and was about to go trample you but he was held back
‘no! i want a hug! i want a family hug! cmon, iwa-chan!’
practice went by quickly but you demanded them to do 10 diving laps in punishment for all the misunderstandings theyve created
but they gladly did it bc it meant that you wont be taken from them and you would be theirs forever and their cute manager is going to pay attention to them and them only
i got serious yandere vibes from this but its so heartwarming that theyre so overprotective and lowkey you got yourself a harem
after practice, they all wanted to walk home with you but you told them that shinsou’s house was the other direction
‘y/n-chan! you said you wouldn’t-’
you rolled your eyes
‘oikawa-san, just because i refused that confession doesnt mean i will stop earning money. i still have to catsit for his family and earn my money!’
they only agreed when kyo said that he was walking that way too but they were still weary and jealous bc he got to spend more time with you than them
as you were both walking, you looked up at him
‘kyo-san, what type of hug do you like?’
‘hah?’
he looked down at you bc we short with wide eyes and flushed cheeks
you smiled and looked forward, skipping slightly
‘everyone in the team has their own special hugs. i want everyone to have one bc you all are individually special to me so-’
but he stopped walking and pulled arm before he lifted you up, making you squeak and wrap your legs around his waist
thank god you were wearing your tracksuit and not your skirt
‘k-kyo-san?’
bruh is it obv that kyoken is one of my favorite seijoh boys like bls love on him
he didnt want you to see his flustered expression bc he still has a reputation to uphold, yanno?
so he tucked it in your neck and you softly smiled before playing with the baby hairs at the base of his neck
‘you like this kind then, kyo-san? kinda aggressive but perfectly suits you, yanno?’
he just grunted and you laughed
he wasnt about to tell you that he liked holding you on his arms bc you were so tiny and so you that holding you like this makes him feel like he was protecting you and feel good about himself bc he gets to be the one who shields you from the world
yuhhhhh get it kyo
‘so yahaba-san told me that you got kicked out of class bc you scared the teacher and kids?’
you questioned and he left his spot on your neck and pulled his face back so you could clearly see his face
it was red and possibly flustered but you just snickered
he still held you by his strong arms so you were able to move your small hands to his face where he flinched at first but relaxed when you touched his cheeks
your fingers gently pulled the sides of his lips and you tilted your head to the side
‘you,,, look really handsome when you smile, kyo-san’
you whispered and he was so surprised that his tough mask fell and was replaced by wide eyes and his eyebrows rose up, the intimidating look disappearing from his eyes
‘i-i do?’
you bit your lip bc this was so different from the aggressive kyo you knew and you didnt expect this type of innocence that he just showed you
maybe he wasnt so innocent from the fights and arguments he has started or been in
but he was so innocent to soft touches and compliments bc he wasnt exposed to it, only used to the ones that were said due to the aura he exuded or his looks
‘yep, you do. so keep smiling for me, kay? dont have to be around the others or all the time, but i,,, want to see it sometimes’
he blinked at you but quickly went back to your neck to hide the big smile that was threatening to come out
you felt his lips move and you laughed
‘noooo! kyo-san!!! i want to see your smilee!!! dont hide it!!!’
but it was cut short when a familiar shout was heard from the other side of the street that was near the school
it seemed that oikawa was worried about you walking alone with kyoken so he followed you both with the other third years
‘kyoken-chan! y/n-chan!’
he shouted in betrayal
you were about to get away from kyo’s hold but he tightened his grip and leaned in to place a kiss on your forehead, still staring straight at the captain
‘mine’
again, do you know what happened next?
oikawa screamed
this was actually pretty funny to write bc wowza oikawa is so oikawa and hes just so oikawa-like, yanno? and im still simping over kyoken and shinsou is my ult fave in bnha and i really love him like ugghhhh :’)

So Much Better
Pairing(s): Mother!Misty Day x Reader, Mother!Cordelia Goode x Reader, Platonic!Zoe Benson x Reader, Platonic!Madison Montgomery x reader
Warnings: Alcohol Use, Smoking, Strong Language
Words: 3,560
—————
A/N: the end of this is so rushed... ANYWAYS😐
—————
"This party kinda sucks," Y/N knew she was yelling, but there was no other way to make sure Madison could hear her. Three hours ago her, Madison, and Zoe had claimed they were heading up stairs to go to sleep after dinner. In reality they were waiting for the household to settle so they could make their "grand" getaway out of Madison's room and to a party they had been invited to a week prior. There was no use in asking for permission to go, the answer was always no so they decided to answer the question themselves.
Madison looked at Y/N, almost offended at what she said. "The party is fine, you suck," she wrapped an arm around the witch's waist, pulling her out of the way of someone passing behind her. Y/N stepped back, pushing the arm off of her and grabbing the drink from Madison's hand. "There you go! That should make things a little more fun!" the blonde teased as she watch her finish what was left in the cup. Zoe had set out to get them all something new to drink so she wasn't as mad as she usually would've been.
Y/N nodded, slightly crushing the cup in her hand. "Hopefully... I'm starting to be over it already." The music was too loud to even understand what they were playing, there had been at least three fights within the past hour, and Zoe had been gone for a lot more than "just a minute" like she had promised. She would've had more fun actually studying or once she drunk something strong enough to fill a few of her senses.
As if God himself heard her thoughts, an arm stretched over her shoulder with a plastic cup almost too full to handle without a spill. "Take it before someone steals it," Zoe's words weren't any softer than Y/N's or Madi's. She handed the other cup to Madison, full just about the same amount but obviously falling victim to a few small spills. The girls took the cups, smelling of much stronger alcohol than what they had previously.
Zoe pressed up against Y/N's back, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Thank you ma'am," Y/N took a sip of the drink. She could feel the hangover building from the one cup alone.
"See, already so much better."
—
"Hurry the fuck up!" Madison pulled Y/N behind her as she pushed pass people on the stairs. The drunken pair was laughing obnoxiously, tripping over their own feet as they tried to squeeze their way through groups of people who were somehow more drunk than them. Madison tried to open a door, failing on her first attempt and additionally giving herself a bruise to wake up to. She tried again, successfully turning the knob this time.
They were over taken with drunken laughter as they sat on the bed, Y/N falling back to look up at the ceiling. Madison took a hit of the vape she had convinced some guy to sell her for lower than half the price he was offering to everyone else at the party. She waved the device in front of Y/N's face, holding it in front of her lips when she nodded her head quickly. Y/N leaned forward, placing her hand on Madi's to hold it steady while she took her hit.
They laughed when Y/N blew the smoke back in her face. Madison laid back to lie down next to her. "Good thing Momma Delia doesn't know, she would have a fucking fit," Madison looked out of the corner of her eye to a now slightly pissed off Y/N. It was amusing to her just how quick she could make the witch's mood change. "Or maybe even Misty for that matter." She made herself laugh- Y/N, not finding it as funny as she did.
"If she knew this was your idea, let alone we just so happened to both be here, she would drag your ass again," Y/N rolled her eyes. She grumbled an insult when Madison jabbed her side, returning a softer elbow to her arm. "And Cordelia would just kick me out and call it a day."
"The fuck she would," Madison laughed. She looked at Y/N, chin basically resting on her shoulder. "Why the hell would she throw her pride and joy out to the curb? Me and Zoe would get abandoned before you did." Madison had a theory that Cordelia and Misty would empty the coven of everything but Y/N before they admitted she was at least a little responsible for her less than star-child behavior. In that theory she was the first to go.
"Whatever."
"What are you 'whatever'ing? It's true! Exactly how it fucking works actually."
"They don't hate you if that's what you're trying to say."
Y/N almost said it so low that Madison didn't hear. But she did, and that's what was important. "They do."
"They don't," Y/N looked at Madison, almost upset that's how she thought her mothers thought of her. "You're my friend... I wouldn't let them hate you, but you don't exactly help yourself.."
"Oh yeah?"
"Mo- Cordelia tries... We talked about it once, how you try sometimes to do your best but you always end up, like, doing shit to piss everyone off and start all over again," Y/N took Madison's hand, playing with the rings on her fingers. "Is this mine by the way?"
"Maybe."
"Cunt... Anyways!" Y/N rolled over. "Like, sad shit aside... They don't hate you, no one really does. Well I mean I hate you," she laughed at the way Madison rolled her eyes.
"Fuck you!" Madison took her hands out of Y/N's as she fought back the smile on her face.
"Now that's how you really get kicked out!"
The pair erupted into laughter. Madison took Y/N's hands this time, leaning to kiss her cheek. "That's how I get burned at the stake, don't even." They laid there for a while, laughing at random things the other said, sharing Madi's vape, and complaining about the music they were playing downstairs.
"Get the fuck up, we gotta fucking go."
Madison and Y/N looked over at the door- surprisingly still hanging on its hinges despite how hard it was thrown open. Zoe stood there as pale as a ghost, something the pair had chalked up to cheap booze mixed with even cheaper booze, or maybe even a bad hit from whatever some random was smoking. She rushed over to the pair, grabbing their hands and attempting to pull them up. She was determined, but evidently not enough to get them out of the bed.
Madison pulled her hand back, Zoe almost falling with it. "Okay... chill the fuck out," another puff of smoke traveled up the contours of the witch's face, disappearing into the air and leaving nothing but the smell of a cheap candy flavoring to linger for a moment. She noticed Zoe was red in the face, but couldn't decide if it was too much to drink red or anything a bit more serious.
Zoe had stopped pulling at Y/N's hand but held a firm grasp on it. "Do you think I'm fucking joking? Get your shit Madi," she took the puff out of Madison's hand, tossing it at the wall when she attempted to get it back. "Y/N get the hell up," another useless tug that barely made her move.
Y/N propped herself up with her free hand, tilting her head slightly as she looked at Zoe. She pulled Zoe down to be more level with her. "Why are you so uptight Zo? Like come on, it's a par-"
"-The neighbors called the fucking cops."
The drunken smile on Y/N's face turned into half-sober wide eyes. Madison, who at some point moved to the floor to find the discarded vape, shared the same expression as she looked over her shoulder. The stares lasted only for a few more seconds before they rushed to grab everything they owned in the room. There was no discussion necessary. They needed to leave as soon as they possibly could.
"You could've fucking said that!" Madison struggled to slip on her shoes. She lost her balance more than once, practically falling on top of both Zoe and Y/N at one point. "You were just gonna let us sit here until they walked in?"
Zoe rolled her eyes. "I'm so fucking sorry that I told you we had to leave and you were too busy laying on your ass! But hey, you're so fucking wasted you probably don't even remember!" Madison looked back at her, almost asking her to say something else to give her an excuse to bite back. No matter how good of a mood either of these were in they had always made a point to form some type of argument by the end of the night.
"Where the fuck is my phone? Oh my fucking God." Y/N was panicking, not even focused on the two about to fist fight behind her. She was sure they couldn't even hear her over the below the belt remarks they were making to one another.
"This was all your fucking idea!"
"It was Y/N's!"
"You wanted us to go out!"
"Shut up!"
"What are you even looking for?"
"My keys so we can actually fucking leave! We've got like thirty seconds to get out of here and you're standing there like a dumbass!"
"I'm the dumbass? Okay, says the bitch who probably got three different strands of mono tonight!"
"Both of you shut the fuck up and help me find my phone!" The pair turned their attention to Y/N who was pulling at the covers of the bed.
"I have your phone!" Zoe pulled the phone from her back pocket, holding it in front of her.
Y/N almost fell off the bed, catching herself with her hands moments before she tipped forward. "When the fuck did you get my phone?"
"When I had to talk you out of texting the fucking groupchat!"
"Give it a fucking break! Let's go!" Madison had already been making her way to the door. Zoe and Y/N looked at her then to each other before they followed after her, Y/N pulling Zoe after her as attempted to keep up with Madison.
Suddenly the blonde had stopped when she reached the bottom of the stairs. She looked back at Y/N and Zoe and before either of them could ask a question a police officer had already walked up to Madison.
—
“Do you know who I am?” Madison struggled to take her wrist out of the officer’s hand, scoffing at him as she turned around to look at him.
He sighed, turning her back around. “Quite frankly maam, I do not care who you are. And if you keep giving me trouble you’ll be taking the ride with your hands cuffed behind your back.” With that Madison stopped fighting, easily letting him guide her to the car Y/N and Zoe were already sat.
As soon as he opened the door she was met with two teary eyed witches. Zoe’s head rested against the window of the car, moving only slightly to look at Madison get in. Y/N’s head was rested on Zoe’s shoulder, tears a bit more visible on her face than the brunettes. “They’re gonna fucking kill us.”
Never did the thought of ending up in the back of a police car ever pass through Y/N or Zoe’s mind- Madison was a different story. She knew they were done for when Madison made a big deal of announcing their names to the police officer like it would make any difference in the outcome of the night. From that point forward she knew the next obstacle was her mothers. And that was going to be the biggest obstacle of the night.
—
The front door slammed hard enough to wake up the entire neighborhood. Y/N, Zoe, and Madison looked up at one another, each looking as if they had been to Hell and back in the span of the last few hours. Zoe's mascara had met at her chin and continued down her neck. She didn't have the perfect behavior, but she was yet to get caught so she was in a deep state of overthinking every decision in her life that had led up to this moment. On the other hand, Madison was conditioned to this already. She knew all the lines about disappointment and responsibility, but she had only seemed to look upset when she saw Y/N and Zoe.
Y/N had returned to stare off into the distance, hoping that possibly this was a really bad dream or even a trip from some secondhand smoke cloud she had walked through earlier that night. She didn't even have the energy to cry anymore, that was over with after the first turn in the direction of the police station. The silence of the car ride back to the academy was almost enough to make her start crying again, but she found herself paying attention to every small detail she could.
Cordelia's extremely white knuckles wrapped around the steering wheel as she broke every speed limit by at least 10 over. Zoe clicking her nails against each other as she readjusted in her seat every other second. Misty holding onto the handle above the passenger door almost as a way to fight back the urge to turn around and let the three of them hear every word she had built up on the way over. Even the slight sticky feeling that Madison's lipgloss had left on her cheek during their heart to heart in that strangers bed.
She was snapped out of her recollection of the night when Cordelia and Misty walked into the dining room where they were sat. Misty was red in the face, she hadn't said a word since the girls got into the car. Madison had sworn she was just a sitting statue in the passenger seat for most of the ride. Cordelia on the other hand had plenty to say when she first saw the girls. "Get in the car," the first words uttered. "What the hell were you three thinking? Are you all fucking idiots?" as they pulled out of the parking lot. "Out of all the things you could've done this what you decide to get caught up in!" just as they pulled up to the house.
As soon as Cordelia parked the car they had hurried inside, just barely hearing her say to wait in the dining room. Even then they couldn't say anything to one another. That's where they were left now, dizzy and tired as they waited for anyone to say anything. Misty took a seat across from the girls, Cordelia pacing behind her.
"We-"
"Don't fucking talk!" the girls shrunk at Cordelia's words, shocked at a harshness they were unfamiliar with. She hadn't stopped pacing, arms crossed firmly in front of her. "I don't want to hear any of you talk, not a single fucking word. Oh my God, how fucking stupid can you be!" Cordelia paused for just a moment. She had been thinking about this almost the entire ride over, yet couldn't find the words to say what she wanted to say. "Anything could have happened tonight and we didn't know where you were, and I sure as Hell hope you weren't stupid enough to get anyone else tangled in this!"
Y/N looked at Zoe, who was staring at her lap, then to Madison, who was staring up at Cordelia. She couldn't help but notice the dramatic difference in how they were taking it. She looked over at her mothers, Cordelia pacing again, Misty staring straight at her. She followed Zoe and fixed her gaze on her own lap.
"It was my idea." Focus in the room switched to Madison. She leaned back in her charge and let out a long breath. Weighing her options, it made the most sense for her to take the fall or this. It was in character for her. "I asked them to-"
"Madi," Y/N cut her off quickly. “It was me... I mean... Fuck,” she ran a hand over her face, hands slightly shaking as she did so. “They were my friends who invited me, I asked Zoe and Madison to go. Going to the party was my idea.” It wasn’t right in her mind to let Madison go down for this just ‘cause. It was her friend’s party. It was her idea to go out tonight. It was her who asked them to go with.
Shock took over Misty’s and Cordelia’s expressions. Cordelia stopped pacing, head turned to look at her daughter. Misty shook her head, “You don’t have to lie for her.”
Madison’s mouth fell agape. Y/N furrowed her brow. “I’m not,” she stated at Misty who obviously thought she had the whole situation figured out beforehand, but was now struggling to understand what was actually happening.
Cordelia leaned onto the table next Misty, staring just as hard at Y/N as Misty was. “Zoe, Madison, go to your rooms,” her gaze didn’t leave Y/Ns as she took the seat next to Misty. Zoe and Madison shared a brief look with one another before they hurried out room, afraid Cordelia might change her mind.
“Really?” Misty’s question was laced with venom, a look of utter disbelief sealing her tone.
Y/N nodded, wringing her hands in her lap. “I know,” she was soft spoken. “They don’t deser-“
“-Quite frankly, I don’t really want to talk about those two,” Cordelia held up her hand. She was biting back her tone, afraid if she was too loud she would wake everyone else from their sleep. “This all comes down on you.” It almost hurt her to admit.
Misty sat back in her chair, barely diverting her gaze. “Madison, I expect this from. You and Zoe? Never in a million years,” she spoke so calmly Y/N could feel chills travel up her spine. Misty’s anger was unlike Cordelia’s. Cordelia was simply just an angry Cordelia who would let a few more words slip than usual. Misty was a different person. Her smile faded, she offered no kind words, and she was willing to get years worth of tension and anger off of her chest in mere minutes if she so pleased. “I don’t think you understand what could’ve happened tonight.”
“God knows what type of trouble you three could have gotten in while we were here.”
“Trouble might’ve done you some good, especially if you think any of this is acceptable.”
Y/N nodded her head. The tears she was deprived of since the ride in the back of the police car were fighting to be released by now. “I’m sorry.”
“Save it,” Misty shook her head. Even Cordelia was a little shocked to hear her, possibly because she had never talked to Y/N like this. “We raised you so much better than this. It’s disrespectful!” her voice rose with her temper. “You would think you would have no reason to act out like this! But no, lets end up in the back of a fucking police car by the end of the night!”
Y/N couldn’t find anything to say, she was at a lost for words looking at her mother. She couldn’t remember the last time she had raised her voice at her. Every apology she could think about was stuck in her throat. They wouldn’t have much effect anyways.
“You’re better than this Y/N,” Cordelia spoke softer than Misty, but no less stern.
“You’re damn right she is.”
A sigh left the Supreme’s lips. She was tired, eyes heavy and barely put together enough to even look like herself. “It’s disappointing to us to know you’re better than this and for you to still go out and do something like this,” her volume rose slightly, obviously able to handle her temper much more than Misty. As much as she knew what she did was wrong, Cordelia couldn’t deny that this was her baby. She had felt more disappointment in herself than she did her.
Misty stood, face red and knuckles whitened from how hard she was clenching her fist. “You’ll think of some way to apologize for this, possib- hopefully,” she held on to the back of the chair, looking down at Y/N. “Whatever the hell this is,” she waved her hand around, “I want it fucking fixed and nothing short of fixed. The day any fucking child of mind tries to pull that shit is a horrible fucking day for this coven.” And with that she pushed the chair against the table and turned to leave, muttering unseeing her breath about “how unbelievable” this all was.
Y/N watched as she walked out of dining room, Cordelia following right after with no less speed. She could feel the anger in the room dissipate, but every word her mothers shared with her were still there as if they were being repeated right in front of her face once again.

Sunshine on A Cloudy Day: Sana x Reader
tw// chronic illness, hospitals, needles, mention of cancer
it’s a high school au btw
this is based on my personal experience. pls be respectful as it wasn’t easy for me to write this :)
Your alarm played through your room, waking you up immediately. You pressed snooze at least seven times before actually getting up and dressing yourself for the long day that was to come.
You pulled on your favorite t shirt and pajama pants before tugging on a sweatshirt. You checked the time before packing your bag, making sure to add your laptop and phone along with their chargers, snacks, socks, favorite stuffed animal, and a few extra school assignments.
By the time you made it downstairs your mom was already waiting for you. Quickly she handed you an apple and muffin to eat on the car ride.
“Okay sweetie I have a meeting this morning from 8 until 11. I’ll bring you lunch, just text or call and tell me what you want.” Your mother spoke not taking her eyes off the road as she drove.
Your mom pulled out her wallet and handed you two familiar cards, telling you to tuck them away until someone inside asked for them.
“Alright sweet girl I’ll be back soon, if they have any issues call me and I can sort it out.” Your mom kissed your forehead before letting you out the car, watching you walk inside before driving away.
Your feet felt heavy as the familiar smell of saline and disinfectant filled your nose. You grabbed a disposable mask off the lobby desk and put it on.
As you started to walk towards the elevator a woman called after you “maam!”
You turned around and pulled down the mask “don’t worry I’m still a minor. I’m going to the 4th floor.”
The woman nodded and gave you a thumbs up with a smile before turning back to check in adults.
It was still early so not many people were in the hallways, except the emergency wing. It is always packed no matter what.
You made your way to the fourth floor hoping if you wakes slower you just wouldn’t have to go. But that wasn’t how it worked and you knew it.
When you entered the waiting room you found a seat by the window. The dull grey sky offered no source of light, leaving you to rely on the fluorescent ceiling panels for brightness.
“Miss Y/LN?” The woman at the desk called your name, waving you over.
“Good morning sweetie haven’t seen you for a few weeks now.” She smiled as she spoke her tone was calming but also happy.
She asked “you got the insurance card for me?” You nodded and handed her one of the cards waiting for her to tell you how much you owed for today’s visit.
“And you have a $30 copay today, would you like to take care of that now?” You nodded and handed her the second card your mom gave you earlier. She finished checking you in “alright they’ll call you back in a bit.”
You sat down and pulled out your phone knowing that your girlfriend was actually awake now.
Y/N: hey

It didn’t take long for your nurse to call you back and get you situated in a treatment room. There was only one other patient along with you. It was a little girl no more than 3 years old. You didn’t know exactly what she was getting but your heart broke at the thought considering what department you were in, Cancer and Blood Disorders.
It took 3 hours for your IV bag to get delivered to your floor so you turned on the tv hoping something good was on. You settled on Moana, the only thing that wasn’t the news.
“Alright love we just got your bag, you know the drill, vitals every ten minutes for the first 30 then i’ll come every hour. We should have you out in 5 hours if everything goes well okay?” Your favorite nurse Haseul explained to you quickly what was going to happen.
You found yourself in this same spot with her every couple weeks so she knew how you liked things to go.
“So how’ve you been missy? How’s Sana?” She poked your side getting you to smile for the first time today.
You told her “she’s really good...I haven’t seen her in three weeks though. She got sick for two and she had finals this week, but today is her last one.”
Haseul checked “so you didn’t see her when she was sick right? You know you can’t be around that with your anemia.”
You nodded softly remembering why you were even in the hospital in the first place. What was once a slight iron deficiency quickly turned into a chronic anemia that couldn’t be healed with oral supplements. Doctors had no other option than to put you on infusion treatments which sucked.
Although people were definitely going through worse, especially in this department, that didn’t take away from what you dealt with. The constant fatigue, dizziness, falling asleep in class, hair loss, being malnourished, all of it a constant reminder that you weren’t like most.
“Y/N!” Haseul snapped her fingers in front of your face.
You blinked rapidly “sorry what?”
Haseul responded “it’s okay I just needed to make sure you didn’t pass out on me. I need to put on your heart monitor.” She placed the stickers on your chest before grabbing the IV kit she placed on your lap earlier.
“Alright in your hand or arm today?” Haseul knows you prefer the arm but she always asks in case you change your mind.
You simply pointed to your arm before extending it so she could access your vein. Finding your vein was no problem, as you still had a raised bump from the last time you got treatment.
“Okay...and one two- there you go.” Haseul secured the IV with a Tergaderm, which was weirdly enough your favorite part of this whole process.
She left you and cane back every ten minutes to check your vitals before disappearing to help another patient for a bit.
You ended up spending the first two hours dozing in and out of sleep, waiting for your mother to call you. Eventually you did in fact wake up, and to the smell of your favorite food.
Your mother sat in a chair next to you on her phone talking to who you assume is a coworker. Quickly she hung up the phone so she could talk to you instead.
“Hey hows it going so far?” She asked with slight concern.
You told her “ fine just sleeping to pass time that’s all.”
She smiled before handing you a bag of food hoping it’d bring some form of joy to your day.
•
•
•
You both ended up enjoying an early lunch together but unfortunately she had to leave the hospital for an emergency meeting. It wasn’t unusual for this to happen so you were used to it, she’d simply be back at the end of your appointment.
Your phone buzzed next to you, pulling your attention away from your mother’s absence.
Sana💞: how are you doing so far?
Y/N💘: it’s good. I’m watching Aladdin now :)
Sana💞: i wanna be there with you rn instead of in math class
Y/N💘: your day is almost over then you can see me
Y/N💘: think of it that way
Sana💞: yeah but i still wish i was with you
Y/N💘: soon
Sana💞: ok fine. i have to go i love you
Y/N💘: i love you too babe
Around the third hour you became irritable and ended up walking the hallways with Haseul. She was honestly the only thing that made you feel normal in this place.
When the two of you got back you were tired and worn out from the walk. It didn’t seem like a long distance to most but you definitely were feeling it.
You found your spot back in the treatment room, sitting in your chair and reclining it back. Just as you were going to close your eyes Haseul called your name.
“Y/N. You’ve got a visitor would you like her to come back?” Haseul didn’t bother to open the curtain to tell you who it was so being the curious girl you were, you allowed it.
Sana walked in with a smile on her face, it was like your sunshine on a cloudy day. It was clear she had just finished school as she was still in her uniform, and she was wearing her backpack.
“Ho- Sana? Why? How did you even get in here?” You asked her through a laugh.
Sana responded “nobody stopped me downstairs and I know you’re on this floor. The lady at the desk outside was very nice too!”
You immediately sat up, not realizing that was a bad idea given your position. Closing your eyes tight you tapped your finger on the arm rest of your chair, waiting for the dizziness to stop.
When you opened your eyes you saw Sana in front of you, a frown on her face. It broke her heart to see you, her girlfriend, in this state. You always tried to make it seem like you weren’t sick but it was very obvious that you still were no matter how much you pretended otherwise.
She placed a blanket over you before running her thumb along your face and softly saying “my baby girl...”
You smiled at her knowing it might possibly make her less sad but it didn’t do much.
She could tell you were tired so she told you “it’s fine just sleep.”
By the time you woke up it was time for you to leave. Haseul had flushed your IV and took your vitals for the last time while you were asleep.
Your mother was downstairs in the parking garage waiting for you and Sana so you could go home.
It was clear by the look on your face that you felt nauseous, a common side effect of your treatment, from the second you stood up.
Sana gathered your things and help you put on your sweatshirt and bag before you two headed downstairs.
You interlocked you’re hand with hers as you felt dizzier with every step you took. She could tell you were having a hard time but she knows how much you try to hide it. When you both made it to the car you fell asleep almost instantly.
Sana helped you to your room, quickly helping you to bed before stealing some of your clothes to wear for herself.
You sleepily held out your arms for her, a soft whimper leaving your lips. She crawled under the covers and you immediately clung to her. You were shivering as if you were standing in snow with only a bathing suit on. Your hands and fingers started turning blue, indicating you body temperature was dropping, a side effect of treatments.
Sana pulled you closer and kissed the top of your head as your fingers curled around her shirt, holding her close.
It only took ten seconds before you started sobbing into her chest. As much as you wanted to pretend you were fine and not in pain, you couldn’t hide it anymore. Breaking down in her arms you sobbed until you fell asleep. She felt terrible knowing there was nothing she could do to fix it, but she knew that you appreciated her being there for you.
You only slept for an hour before you woke up in a cold sweat. Your t shirt clung to your back as you kicked off your blankets seeking some sort of way to cool yourself down. That did little to nothing so you scrambled to the bathroom hoping cold water would do the trick.
Sana knew this was yet another side effect of your treatment, a high fever. Your cheeks burned red as you splashed your face with water in the sink. Much to your relief it worked and you were finally able to get back in bed with her.
Your girlfriend held you in her arms tight as if she never wanted to let go.
“Thank you...” You softly spoke as she drew small circles along the small of your back.
“For what?” She asked curiously.
You mumbled “everything...just everything you do for me.”
She giggled softly “you know i’d do anything for you baby.”
Mumbling softly you told her “i love you.”
She responded quickly “i love you too.”
Letting your eyes close you further melted into her embrace as she tightened her arms around you. In the back of your mind you were reminded why you always said i love you before you fell asleep. Besides the fact that you did in fact love her, but if you happened not to wake up tomorrow, the last thing she heard from you was those three words.
Nevertheless you hoped and prayed you’d wake up in the morning to see her smiling face.

When Yaoyorozu was young, she didn’t understand what it meant to have no love from her parents.
Everything, generally speaking, came so easy for her. She was fortunate, talented, and if her parents believed in feng shui, then the alignment of the furniture in her house must have powered her luck as well.
On Sundays, Yaoyorozu and her parents would carry stacks and stacks of money in a 29 inch luggage, surrounded by their trusted bodyguards, to the bank. Of course, in one of their many limousines. When she felt bored, her mother would coo her in the vehicle, telling stories of Greek gods and goddesses, stories from the Grimm Brothers and also stories of how she met Yaoyorozu’s father, something that little Momo always found very intriguing. She was always delighted, and if she was hungry, she would tell her parents and in a snap of a finger, they’d get all sorts of dainty pastries ready for her by the time they got home.
Yaoyorozu never stopped attending these family errands until middle school hit and chemical formulas and recipes for god-knows-what were the only things filling her once naïve mind.
Nothing was impossible. Most things were within grasp.
But something else she recalled quite vividly from her lavish childhood was a boy her age dancing with her at one of her family’s ultra-posh galas. A boy who had beautiful, sleek, white and red hair, and eyes that could read her soul through the glassiness of her dark, onyx irises. She learned the hard way that all good things come with a price, and his was a dark angry patch of red that encompassed his fierce blue eye.
Yaoyorozu knew his father was one of the top ten heroes; a family so well-known that it became a household name.
“Todoroki.” She heard her mother say, gesturing with a nod of her head at the other side of the banquet.
The young girl played with a piece of hair that fell out of place from her chignon before her mother fixes it for her and began to feel curious about the giant man whose grip on his youngest son looked way too rigid. Yaoyorozu’s gentle eyes rested on the subtle smile that etched on that boy’s face— him looking uncomfortable, fingers twiddling a piece of thread that hung low on the hem of his nicely pressed dress shirt.
She tested that name, rolling it off the tip of her tongue a few more times, every syllable feeling as though it’d tangle her tongue. But who was she to comment on that; after all, her own family name sounded even more convoluted.
The boy, apparently a prodigy, seemed to have caught on her hawk-like gaze and stared back. Yaoyorozu gasped, mouth breathing in a little of the cold fluid air and wondered why she couldn’t avert her focus.
The night went on smoothly—she doing her own thing while he did his, until the clock struck 11.
Yaoyorozu was running around searching for her parents, the hour hand ticking to its place when she came across a scene that scarred her since.
She wouldn’t doubt that it scarred him as well.
“How many times did I tell you to talk to them with more enthusiasm?! YOU have the obligation to network and learn your duties NOW before you get to UA. Your siblings are nothing like you…I’m entrusting everything to you, Shouto!”
She watched from afar, hidden by wisps of a waxy house plant, as the boy that captured her attention rooted in place with an expression so dark that one would be surprised that he came from a heroic family.
Her fingers daintily moved a piece of leaf and continued to eavesdrop, her mother’s voice as her conscience, ringing at the back of her mind telling her to tiptoe out of there.
“I don’t want to,” The boy seethed.
“What did you say?!”
“I hate you and all heroes was what I said!”
The fumes and flames that flickered on the man’s head was enough to ignite the building when his youngest son’s awful words seeped into his ear. The man stood tall, fists unclenching as he whipped his palm across the younger boy’s face. The loud slap echoed across the hall and vibrated into Yaoyorozu’s heart.
She was mortified, feeling nothing but dread. For a second, she felt the slap on her own skin.
The rest of the otherwise pleasant night was quite hard to bear.
Yaoyorozu could see from outskirts of the crowd that the boy was still alone. She felt helpless. She knew she couldn’t tell anyone, not even her parents, and if she risked that then she’d risk the safety of that boy whom she so wanted to befriend.
The chance came when it was the farewell dance of the night. An event that always finalized her parent’s galas. Most of the time, Yaoyorozu would just sit somewhere and watch, but tonight she extended a caring hand to the boy and asked if she could take him for a spin. Which unfortunately came out quite awkward and silly for someone who only danced during her weekly Ballet lessons.
Let me make it up to you, she heard herself say under her breath, but the boy didn’t catch it.
As per her calculations, the boy didn’t take her hand at first. He instead opted to study her, skeptical if she was doing it for show or not, because let’s face it, who from a wealthy family was actually genuine?
After a short 3 second contest of stares, Yaoyorozu was already blushing like mad at his antics.
Initiating contact was definitely not her forte.
Her mother always reminded her to help people in need though, and so she’d let this time slide.
“Please,” she grabbed the skirt of her maroon dress and repeated, “just one dance.”
Yaoyorozu found herself concentrating on the slight tinge of sour red on the boy’s jaw from his father’s assault earlier, and she bit her lip, hoping he understood that she knew what happened between him and his alleged loving father.
Nevertheless, in the end the boy never found out why she was so adamant on accompanying him. With a sigh, he took her hand anyway.
Anything to get away from Todoroki Enji.
Afterwards, they became pen pals— a secret locked between him and her; when Enji was at work, the younger boy would sneak out and meet young Yaoyorozu at the park near her house. Both being 13 at the time, a false sense of freedom dawned and the girl felt something unfamiliar stir inside her every time they met. This went on for months until one day, the boy granted with the powers of ice and fire stopped coming to see her and to say that she hadn’t stopped thinking about why he left her alone at the park those afternoons would be a lie. She knew she had no other way of contacting him without risking being found out.
It soon became a habit: before she falls asleep, before she hears the creak of her parent’s bedroom door, Yaoyorozu would think about the idea of ‘star-crossed lovers’ and prayed that whatever happened to their friendship hadn’t dwindle away completely.
That year, on Christmas morning, Yaoyorozu sat between her mother and father’s embrace. Hands trembling, her father read the front page of the newspaper about Endeavor’s youngest son’s disappearance.
~~
“OH MY GOD, I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU,” Jirou shouted, eyebrows scrunched in agony as her husband hid his face in his hands, “YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE YOU DROPPED OUR WEDDING RING?”
Her spouse pursed his lips, nervous sweat on his cheeks as he ran a hand to brush his bangs away.
Kaminari was so dead. Probably the wrong time to die since they were at Iida’s Christmas gathering.
“Kyouka, I’ve got this, don’t worry!” The blond emphasized, afraid to even dare tilt his head up at his wife who was now so outraged that the mojito in her hand was swaying madly from her harsh movements.
Yaoyorozu quickly grabbed her best friend’s drink from the rim and pulled it out of her death grip, immediately setting it down somewhere far away before it spills all over the rug.
“I’m sure it’s somewhere in this vicinity,” Yaoyorozu suggested, giving the living room a quick scan and moving her palms up and down in attempt to calm the couple sitting directly beside her, “I’m sure it’ll show up. Lost things usually do.”
Yaoyorozu knew she was thinking of excuses; she really couldn’t focus on anything but the Christmas lights and poinsettias that was at every corner of the room, not to mention the amount of old classmates that were mingling in this place; finding a ring here was going to be harder than baking her mother the batch of pumpkin spice cookies last night.
But she digressed.
“Bakugou and Kirishima are helping me look outside right now –“
“THEN GO AND SEARCH TOO!”
“Y-YES MAAM!”
And with that, Kaminari booked it outside as fast as his legs could carry him. Jirou slumped back down onto the plush couch, index fingers massaging her temples in hopes to suppress her headache to no avail.
Iida and Hatsume’s screams of victory from beer pong on the other side of the room, ten decibels too high, was not helping either.
Yaoyorozu watched as her friend groaned again.
“I married a total idiot Yaomomo.”
Kaminari and Jirou had been married for a while now, engaged a few years after their graduation from UA, both now working hard climbing the hero ranking ladder.
“Well I think its endearing that both of you value your keepsakes so much. Not that I’d understand,” Yaoyorozu said.
“You are married to your work instead of a real human being after all,” Jirou answered back, words sinking a little too deep. The former had nothing else to say except to respond with a mere upwards tug of her lips.
As if on cue, Yaoyorozu’s phone vibrated on the edge of the coffee table, a slight clinking sound elicited from the crystal vase beside it. The creation heroine gave it a click and stared at the screen.
‘another victim, 25, kobayashi yoru, severe burns, Minoru and Fir intersection’
No. Not again.
“I’ve got—“
“to go?” Jirou finished the sentence for her, obviously worried, “Yaomomo, you’ve been working way too much lately. Your other sidekicks can handle fine without you.”
Yaoyorozu gulped down her drink, though the inside of her mouth was increasingly dry with anticipation. Her phone slipped back into her pant pockets without thought as she put down the glass a little too roughly.
Finally, another lead. To him. And this time it was right at her fingertips.
“This is important, and I know I say this every time but I’m so close.”
“Hasn’t it always been that way? The same case? For the past few years?”
Jirou’s fingers tapped agitatedly at her stocking-covered knee as she crossed her legs, ears quirking up at Yaoyorozu’s sigh as she got up from her seat. She knew her stubborn friend wasn’t going to listen. All she could do, Jirou guessed, was to support her however she could.
“If it’s that important, Yaomomo, then I’ll let Iida know.”
Yaoyorozu smiled as she slipped her arm through her coat sleeve.
“Thanks, I knew I could always count on you.”
~~
From the direction of the incoming ambulances and the police tape that comprised the crime scene, Yaoyorozu knew that she had to act quickly.
The culprit was close; he was fast but had always had a habit of staying nearby.
She wouldn’t call it a Christmas miracle, but to have him carry out his kill near Iida’s party? It was almost like Santa listened to her plea.
Her sidekicks left her yet another text to update her on the victim’s condition. The victim was apparently gifted with third degree burns and a perforated lung.
Sounded like his work alright.
Just thinking about his alias sent a ping down to the pit of her stomach.
Kuroroki. An infamous murderer who was killing a little too close to home had been on her radar for too long. Yaoyorozu had a dedicated cabinet to all the cases she had dealt with involving him and she wracked her brain contemplating whether or not she’d ever be able to crack these cases. Tonight, however, would be when she’d break through the wall that had always been blocking her path.
Yaoyorozu shivered as her teeth chattered from the cold though not enough to stop her from leaping from one alley to the next, dodging civilians as she felt her blood run in pure adrenaline. She didn’t know what to say if he were to be right in front of her but she didn’t care.
6 years she’s been hoping to find him. 6 damn years.
The following alley was enclosed with wandering policemen and she had no doubt that some were walking around to pretend like they were doing their job. She wanted to scoff.
“Sorry, miss, you can’t go through this way,” an officer said sternly, voice gruff, as she was about to step foot into the scene, “you’d better turn around, we’re still investigating here.”
“I’m a licensed heroine,” Yaoyorozu spat, wanting to roll her eyes as she fished out her badge, “The name’s Creati. Licensed since 2019.”
The man crossed his arms and casted an annoyed grunt at her before scanning the badge in her grasp. Yaoyorozu figured he must be new here if he had never heard of her name. Either that or he didn’t recognize her because of her formal attire and curled hair.
While he was busy reading at a snail’s pace, Yaoyorozu leaned forward and peeked behind him, eyes rounding and nose scrunching at the foul smell that began to waft behind the officer.
Blood stained the brick walls, and there were lots of it.
“Alright, fine, I’ll let you through,” the man finally said, words still laced with annoyance, and Yaoyorozu thanked him with a slight nod of her head, the taste of blood erupting in her mouth as the smell once again perturbed her.
The heroine tread swiftly past him, her head turned left and right, the ridges in her throat bobbing from disgust at the scene. She should be used to this by now given the nature of her work but something about knowing that it’s him that did this sent a choking chill down to every bone in her body.
For a second, at the corner of her eye, a shadow fleeted off at the furthest most passageway that connected to the back street.
Yaoyorozu craned her neck, knees still slightly bent from studying the blood splatters on the concrete above her shadow and she felt her fingers go numb. Did she imagine it? Her hands slid down to her phone and hesitated. Should she contact her sidekicks or better yet, just yell at the policemen around her to follow her in or …?
Yaoyorozu didn’t know what the million thoughts in her head were but she ran and ran, the clicking of her heel echoing behind her. She lost her footing for a brief moment but she kept going and shifted to her left at the sharp turn, eyes never leaving the small road. Thoughts wheeling in her mind almost blurring her vision; when she confronts him, what should she say? Should she say anything at all? Yaoyorozu gave her head a shake in attempt to swivel her mind back to the right place.
She knew the route around here painstakingly well given it being near where her parent’s house used to be, and she had already strategized several ways that this could go.
There was a 40% chance that whoever the shadow belonged to would hit a dead end and Yaoyorozu could already see the figure move even more frantically now.
She bit her lower lip; if only she had time. Time was all she needed to create something, anything, to help her mobility right now.
A splash from the puddle a few metres in front of her route knocked her senses back and she halted, legs firm as she planted herself in place. She extended her arm as the other pulled her sleeve up, a pole forging out of her skin in an instant. A giant vine-covered wall stood between the figure and the other side of the road.
The chase was over.
“Show yourself, you have nowhere else to run,” Yaoyorozu cried out, eyes piercing at the dark figure in front of her. She gulped as the person turned around, shifting under the dim street lights, his features gradually revealing. Yaoyorozu felt the grip around her weapon tighten, hands unsteady.
Black and red hair, grey and blue eyes, the dark patch on his face.
Even if he tried to change his appearance, she could recognize him anywhere.
Yaoyorozu’s mouth was agape, panicking to form a coherent sentence, but he beat her to it.
“Spare me your words, Yaoyorozu,” Todoroki simply said, head downwards. His voice was husky, reverberating into the brisk, frosty wind.
Even in that angle, she could see how much he had grown; in another situation, perhaps she’d be charmed by him.
She dropped her arms to her side, forgetting that she had a weapon for a reason. It was nostalgic to meet him again albeit in this undesirable environment.
Todoroki took another step forward. “Why are you always chasing me.” His words were vile, sounding threatening to her ears, but she didn’t care.
“It hurts me to think,” she began, trying to change the subject, her heart thumping hard against her ribcage, “what if I had reached out to you earlier? Then maybe you wouldn’t have become a criminal. Like you are now.”
He didn’t want to listen yet he didn’t move, his eyes blazing with raw anger, staring straight at her as if he was his prey. Part of her wishes it’s because he still cared, but the energy emitting from him was so menacing that even Yaoyorozu hitched a breath and let the pole in her hand drop.
It was now or never.
“I know you’re conflicted.”
“You don’t know who I am anymore. Whoever you think I was, well, he’s long gone. Stop following me or you’ll regret.”
Yaoyorozu’s hands balled into fists at his awful sounding words.
“Todoroki Shouto, come back. Please. I can help you.”
He shuddered at her calling him so intimately. The man scowled at her as if his real name was poison. Was it crazy to say that that was the reaction she was hoping for?
“Don’t fucking say that word. That name.”
Yaoyorozu was only a stride away from him but it was still like he was an ocean away. He was also a head taller than her, she recognized, though it became so much more than a mere measurement.
She blinked once. Twice.
“I know, with your skills, you could easily climb these walls and leave, yet you aren’t.”
Was she crazy to ignore his pure killing intent and instead, to blab on? To someone who had no remorse, no sense of humanity, no warmth?
He breathed harder.
“And I could burn you here in a second.”
“You won’t. I know. Because you saved me two years ago.”
Todoroki froze. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.“
Yaoyorozu’s mind cycled through to the fire that night when she followed him. She had gotten intel that Todoroki had once again fried someone to a crisp in an office building in downtown. If that wasn’t bad enough, his finishing touch was to bomb the building by cutting off the gas pipes. When she entered, she was immediately blown back at the explosion, the smell of the leak muffling her senses, but she survived. Policemen told her when she woke up on that hard, stiff hospital bed that she was far away from the building when they had found her with minor injuries. They theorized that she got dragged away by someone to safety.
She didn’t tell anyone and her memory may be hazy but for the short moment between her eyes flickering and completely shutting to unconsciousness after being tossed back from the explosion like a ragdoll, she saw Todoroki’s face, and felt his grip around her, carrying her out.
Yaoyorozu had thought she imagined it, but taking a closer inspection of him now, she was certain it was him.
“And all those victims that you target, every single one of them are criminals that are on the wanted list. You had never laid a hand on an innocent person. Kobayashi Yoru, the one from tonight, he evaded capture last month for human trafficking and distribution of illegal firearms, amongst ten other offenses.”
“Shut up.“
“Why don’t you also tell me why you still contact your sister and ask about your mother? You thought you were so smart using various phones so we couldn’t track you but I think you underestimated my abilities.”
Todoroki’s mouth snapped shut, lips pursing into a thin nervous line. He was rendered utterly speechless by this girl whom he didn’t recall ever wanting to contact. Todoroki didn’t even want to reignite the flame they had when they were 13.
The past was the past. He will rid of every speck of it if it meant for him to make a new identity for himself.
Yaoyorozu swallowed hard, footsteps heavy, legs feeling like cotton with no sense of control as she slowly trudged to him, putting shaky hands on the side of his shoulders. He felt so real. He was real. The girl paused to study him, looking at him up and down, wondering if the wetness on her cheeks was from the rain.
It wasn’t raining.
“I promise you, if you stop this, you’ll never feel alone again, I know many lawyers and—“
“Kill whatever imagination you have of me returning to society like a normal human. I made this path and I’m not going to stop, until…until I kill that son of a bitch. Endeavor.”
Her eyes opened wide and she could see his adam’s apple hitch and in a blink of an eye she was pulled deeper into the shadows, snug against the damp brick wall and Todoroki’s rigid body. Yaoyorozu opened her mouth curiously, until she heard a rustle of steps and a string of shadows pass their alley.
Yaoyorozu didn’t dare focus anywhere except for the tense muscle on his neck; she couldn’t completely disregard their closeness either, reprimanding herself for having even a slight hope that her childhood friend would come to his senses. It could be silly and totally absurd, but Todoroki Shouto had run a soft finger down a curl of her hair.
The smell of iron and tonight’s murder still lingered on the surface of Todoroki’s clothes, however, and she felt strained.
“They’re gone,” she said as the last shadow passed them, his face twisting into a stern glare. He moved away.
Todoroki shot her a knowing look, as if to say that time was up. It had been awhile after all, to think that he’d even let her get this close was more than she had ever desired.
And in one last pathetic attempt, she let her feelings pour out.
“It’s been 6 years,” her words came out smooth, gradually rising in pitch, “6 years of me hunting you like some sad, disillusioned woman, not even doing this out of the duty of being a hero but because you were a friend.”
“Then continue to obsess over this fantasy of yours,” he snapped back, and she felt a twitch in her fingers. She could slap him, slap the demon or whatever that possessed him. Slap him until she was a pile of teary mess.
Yaoyorozu stood her ground, watching as Todoroki dug his fingers into the ridges of the fence beside them, but having no desire to pull him back down.
“If you follow me again, I will murder you, Yaoyorozu,” he added, “You let me live my life and I won’t bother yours.”
“Don’t leave, Shouto! I’m—“
“You can do so much better than me.”
She backtracked for a few seconds, thinking how much his words pained her. The moonlight shone over her face as she bit her lip, all the pressure held in her body accumulating in that one spot in her chest.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he leapt over and ran somewhere further into the dark, her cries not enough to turn him around.
Was that it? Was it over?
She crumpled over, knees buckling. All her energy zapped out of her as she held herself steady.
Her mind was a mess, all these things she had forgotten to say. All these ‘could haves’ and ‘should haves’ but none taken to light.
“Do you at least remember how we met?” she muttered to herself, voice thin.
And in the end, she pushed herself back up, alone like she had been for the past decade, feeling the rough, uneven asphalt below her.

A Government Investigation
(Aight, so this is the first part of what’s probably gonna be my last big foray into @squigglydigglydoo ‘s Toon Henry AU. I’ve had this idea since Beady Little Eyes, but I didn’t have much to go into it until now (being quite honest, I’m still not sure I have much). It’s a much different story than any of the others, but I hope you guys enjoy it regardless. Now without further ado. The basic premise: You don’t show a real life cartoon getting interviewed on live TV without someone in Washington wondering what’s up with that.)
Nine years. Nine years Lawrence Lockart had worked in the CIA. And in that time, the list of useless, tedious, inane tasks he’d been given was long and disheartening. But this, this one took the cake.
“Investigate the existence of cartoon characters existing in our world,” he muttered to himself. “What kind of absolute fucking moron…"
The short version was that a few weeks prior, Ross-n-Bendy Studios, a relatively new animation house, touting staff from the now defunct Joey Drew Studios had made national headlines with one hell of a publicity stunt.
“A live interview with Bendy himself!”
The news outlets had a field day with this. The technology was impressive. Larry had thought it was charming when he watched it. Joey Drew’s Bendy was a favorite of his growing up. He assumed they had it pre-recorded and that the cartoon character was put over the footage. Except according to his boss, no technology outside of the normal equipment was involved. Then he gave Larry the assignment and sent him off.
The file they had on Drew was meaty, to say the least. He’d gotten on their radar a few years back when he’d started making some odd purchases with company funds. Rumors started popping up too. Something about that studio wasn’t quite right, especially near the end of it’s life. There had been some reports of children acting “strange” after watching a Bendy cartoon, getting aggressive, or even falling ill for a few days. Eventually parents started complaining, but since nothing could link the cartoons to it other than coincidence, nothing was done. Larry did catch one of the newer shows a while back. Something about it was definitely off. He’d assumed it was choppier animation; the studio didn’t quite have the budget they used to. This was all outside of the walls of course, no one quite knew what went in inside. Then one day Joey Drew and a number of his staff just disappeared, with the only one to come out being Henry Ross.
Now, after a 7-hour plane trip, Larry was driving to Mr. Ross’s residence to confirm that cartoons weren’t real and the higher ups were idiots.
The sign for Ross’s community came up, Verdanville Hills. He pulled into the neighborhood and up to a curb, shifting into park and checking around the car for the slip with the address on it. Not in the passenger seat, not under it. Not in the back.
“Come on, where is the damn thing?” He muttered to himself angrily. After a good five minutes of searching and coming up empty, Larry sighed and accepted that it was lost. He pinched the bridge of his nose. Perfect. Time to start asking for directions.
Getting out of his car, he looked around for any of the locals. Lucky for him, a resident was right by, an old woman. “Excuse me, maam?” he called, “I’m looking for the residence of Henry Ross, would you be able to point me in the right direction?”
The little old lady lit up at the name and nodded vigorously. “Of course, deary, he’s a darling man, that Henry; bit rough around the edges, but that’s normal for an old war dog like him.”
Larry nodded past the unasked-for information smilng to be polite, “I’m sure it is. Now, about that address.”
“You’ll be looking for 542 Clearwater. Boris should still be out mowing, you can’t miss it.”
The name made Larry perk up, “Boris?”
The old lady clearly knew she’d said something she wasn’t prepared to explain. “Oh, you’ll have to see it to believe it. Don’t be too startled when you meet him, he looks a bit strange but he’s such a good boy.”
“Uh-huh. Thank you very much maam, you have yourself a good day.” With that, Larry drove off. Boris… she couldn’t actually be talking about…
…Boris!
In defiance of everything Larry thought possible, there he was; Boris the Wolf, clear as day, merrily pushing a mower across a lawn in front of a house. For a few seconds, Larry could do nothing but stare. In his mind, he went right back to his childhood, watching the cartoons in the theaters, then later on TV. There was no mistaking that hound.
Larry didn’t believe it. No matter how long he looked, he didn’t believe it for a second. He was sleep deprived, that was it, seeing things because he hadn’t slept well. That conclusion had a long, happy life of about three seconds before he was back to debating himself.
Faced with the impossible, Larry wasn’t sure how to proceed. Going up and talking to him seemed the logical thing. Sure… going up and talking… to the cartoon. He pinched the bridge of his nose again. He was actually about to do this, wasn’t he? Well it was better than sitting here, arguing his way into getting committed.
Slowly, he pulled up to the curb and put the car in park. He rolled the window down and called out sheepishly, “Excuse me, pal.” Naturally, there was no reaction; Larry could barely hear himself over the mower, he wasn’t sure why he expected the wolf to hear him. He got out of the car and called again, waving an arm to catch his attention.
In a moment right out of a cartoon, Boris the Wolf noticed him, waved back, then went right on with his mowing.
It almost pulled a laugh right out of him, but he composed himself. But he had a job to do, and this was part of it. He walked right up to Boris and tapped him on the shoulder. “Excuse me, I’d like to have a word, if I could!” He tried in vain to be heard above the mower.
“What, sorry feller, I can’t hear ya, the mower’s awfully loud!” The cartoon called back in a southern drawl.
“I said,” he yelled as loudly as he could, “I’D LIKE TO HAVE A WORD, IF I COULD!” It was only after he finished the sentence that Larry realized Boris had turned off the mower.
“Now, now, no need to shout there, mister, I can hear ya just fine now.”
After moving past the second moment of cartoon-esque gag, Larry began to process the voice he was hearing. It wasn’t cloudy like it had been on the numerous screens through his childhood, but he knew the voice alright. “Boris the Wolf?” Larry had to ask, not sure if he was looking for confirmation that he wasn’t hallucinating, or that he was.
“That’s my name mister! Pleasure to meetcha!” Boris extended a hand, unwittingly daring Larry to embrace what he still half believed to be a mirage. Oh, what the hell, why not? Larry took the hand a gave a hardy shake.
“Is Mr. Ross home?”
“Henry? Why sure he is. Should be right inside.”
“Thanks… Boris.” Saying the name still felt odd.
“Of course. You have a good day, mister… uh…” the wolf took on a thoughtful look, trying to remember a name that Larry hadn’t given him.
“Lawrence. Name’s Lawrence.”
“Oh! Well, have a good day Lawrence!” The wolf said cheerfully, then returned to his chore.
“Yeah, you too…” Larry watched him for another moment, feeling a bit lightheaded, then shook himself out of it and headed for the front door. He gave a stiff two knocks and waited. Inside he could barely hear some muffled words of a man. Someone much closer by, a woman, replied.
“I’ve got it Henry.”
The voice was another one that Larry knew instantly. But it didn’t lessen the surprise when the door opened and he came face to face, or rather, face to torso, with Alice Angel. If he had to hazard a guess, Larry would say just over four feet, maybe, but he was never good with guessing height.
“Good afternoon, what can I do for you?” When he didn’t say anything, Alice’s brow knit in confusion. “Excuse me, sir?”
Larry shook himself out of the daze. “Sorry about that, miss. I’m looking for Henry Ross, is he in?”
“Oh, Henry, it’s for you,” she called back.
“Alright, you come stir this,” a voice echoed from the kitchen.
Alice left the door back to the kitchen, passing by a haggard looking man with a touch of grey in his hair. The muscled arms from his service hadn’t gone away, but it was clear that he was softer than he used to be. “Old war dog” was a perfect way of describing him. The sight of Larry’s pressed black suit raised an eyebrow on the man.
“Can I help you?” He asked, a little warily.
In response, Larry pulled put his ID. “Mr. Ross, I’m Lawrence Lockart, Central Intelligence.”
Ross’s eyes scanned both Larry and his badge for a moment, then he gave a short chuckle. “I expected you guys to show up weeks ago.”
“Chock that one up to a firm disbelief, something I’m still not quite over. May I come in?”
“Do I have a choice?”
“Technically yes,” Larry’s words were even and calm, but he added, “this time,” to make his point.
Ross was notably unimpressed. “Come on in, we’re in the middle of making lunch.”
“Thanks much.”
Larry followed Ross back to the kitchen, finding Alice in a white apron with the words “Praise the Cook” emblazoned on it, stirring a pot with a wooden spoon.
“So, I’m assuming you got questions?”
Larry had questions alright. “Mr. Ross, I’ve met more childhood idles in today than in the past thirty \-four years. If someone told me ten years ago that someday I’d have dinner with the president of the United States, I’d laugh at them. If someone told me with a straight face that I’d be meeting Joey Drew Cartoons, I’d personally have them committed. Apparently I’d be wrong to do so and I’d like to know how that’s possible.”
“I don’t think you’d believe me if I told you.”
The agent nodded, “If that past twenty minutes hadn’t happened, I’d agree with you,” he cast a look in Alice’s direction, “but those twenty minutes, in fact, did happen.”
“It’ll take a while,” Ross warned.
“Mr. Ross, I’ve got two things today. Time and a report to fill out. Take as much time as you need.”

Excuse me!
Oh boy sorry this is a long one but I just about went nuts because of this. There isn't really a way for me to tldr it sorry. I'm in the middle of an 11 hour shift at the restaurant. It's about 3-4 in the afternoon. Our slow time. So this chick walks in and first asks about one of our chicken sandwiches. Aight. Then she asks about a different sandwich. This is important so I'm gonna tell you the ingredients. It's a fried breast with a red pepper sauce slathered on it and lettuce pickle and tomato on a plain bun. Simple right? Apparently not. "What's in the red pepper sauce?" "..... red peppers?" "No but like. What's in it?" "Red peppers maam. I don't know the other ingredients off the top of my head it's a red pepper sauce it's kind of like spicy mayonaise." "Can I try it?" Oddly not the first time I've had someone want to try it. Since it's slow the cooks are in the back instead of in our open kitchen so I just walk back and grab her a portion cup and a spoon and she takes a taste. "Okay I'll take it." So I ring it in and go through the spiel. "Okay this has red pepper sauce lettuce tomato and pickle on it is that okay?" "Does it have lettuce?" BITCH I JUST TOLD YOU NOT TWO SECONDS AGO. "...yes." "And tomato?" At this point I'm just like are you for real? "Yes and pickle." Might as well cover my God Damn bases if she didn't hear 2 out of 4 ingredients. She went on to get some other items including a salad which she also asked a million questions about but I'm more willing to overlook because unlike the sandwhich the salad has like 10 different ingredients and a lot of it is health food that has weird names. But there transaction is over. No harm done right? Since it's slow I'm working on some tasks. At this point I'm finishing up some trays. It should take me like 5 minutes tops while the chicken is cooking but then- "Excuse me!" "Yes maam?" "Do you guys have pepsi?" As she's standing in front of our soda machine. "No only coke maam." "You sure?" WELL GEE DO YOU SEE IT ON THERE? "No maam." "Alright." I pick up my towel to go back to tackling those trays. "Excuse me!" "Yes maam?" "There's only 3 or 4 lime slices left in your container here." ".... alright..." She continues to stare at me expectantly. ".... do you.... need more?" "Yes please." It's obvious it's for her diet coke which why do you need that many limes for but okay. "I'll have some more cut up for you." "Okay." So I ask the cook who has come out from the back to make the salad to cut up some limes please just as the door opens and a couple walks in. Meaning I cant cut them myself like I normally would have when hes busy. He keeps making the salad and I say "I do need them now sorry." And he sighs and goes to make them as I rush to help the new customers while the lady starts babbling to him about how she needs them before the carbonation all disappears or something. So I'm done with them and go to get back to those pesky trays. "Excuse me!" Oh. My. God. "..... yes maam?" "Do you have a knife?" At this point I'm really confused. She already has her 11 lime slices in her cup with the lid on. The salad comes with silverware already and I know she watched me put it in the to go bag. She doesn't even have her food anyway. But I don't want to try to be like "there's a knife in the bag" or anything at this point so I just hand her a plastic knife which she stares at for a second and then goes "Ummm... actually? Can you cut the chicken sandwhich for me?" "Yes maam. Let me just tell the cook." At this point he has the chicken on the table and is making the sandwich so I ask him to cut it in half and he gives me this look because like. He can see this woman constantly interrupting me it's an open kitchen and he quickly cuts it and wraps it with way more papers than necessary so it's basically a paper bomb and doesn't put it in a tray just hands it to me and I'm so done I'm not gonna have him fix it like I normally would so I just put it in its own paper bag like its a burger and try to quickly finish these trays because I'm actually starting to get stressed out just because they should already be done. "Excuse me!" What fresh hell is this? Did I die and go to the seventh circle while I was blinking? "..... yes maam." "What dressing comes on the salad?" This is something she asked about three times while ordering. "The kale pesto. Maam." "That's what I thought." OH GOOD. GLAD YOU ASKED AGAIN JUST IN CASE 4TH TIMES THE CHARM RIGHT HAHAHA. So now all items are up and I am bagging at the speed of light because I want this lady out of my store. "Excuse me!" Oh lord please end my existense. "Yes maam." "Can you make sure everything is in there?" W-what do you think I'm doing in full view of you? Tap dancing? "Of course." So I go to hand it out. Showing her each menu item in bag as is procedure explaining that there are napkins silverware and dressings in the bag asking if there's anything else blah blah blah. Finally we're done and she's leaving but then. She turns around. "Excuse me!" I hear myself screaming from afar. "Yes maam." "Can I have silverware for my salad?" "There's silverware in the bag maam." Like I just fucking told you. "Oh okay." She finally left and I know she wasn't trying to be rude or anything but she got to me worse than any of the rude or snippy customers did the rest of the day and throughout the entire 10 minutes she was in the restaurant I could feel my soul leaving my body and I really just needed to vent because whenever any other customer said excuse me for the rest of the day I would visibly flinch and get upset.
